  1. - I feel I don't hear the whine of the engine and transmission nearly as much on the race up to redline. Even w the PSE off, I just don't feel like the mechanicals sound/feel as primal as on my 996. Anyone else relate or am I crazy?

First, congratulations for the major upgrade!

Second, only a Cayman or Boxster can fulfill the excitement you seek in a Porsche. You need a mid-engine to roar in your ears and vibrate behind your back to live this experience.

  2. Just to chime in on this.. I have driven both the 996 Turbo and 997 Turbo and have owned 996 and 997 Carreras. No doubt the Turbo is faster but it's just a totally different experience.. After dring another 997 Turbo the other day (tuned to about 550hp) I got back in my C2S and still loved it. I love the sound and the response from a normally aspirated engine (no lag and higher revs.)

I would really love to have both. I have a hard time saying that one is better than the other. They are two totally different cars. That being said I believe I may be buying this car. 2007 Turbo with PCCB's Carbon package, Sport Chrono. It is truly sweeet and those brakes are mind blowing.. Here's a pic.. Still working on a price. Somewhere is the $75k range..

May I ask why not go for the 997.2 turbo instead of the other two... you know the 997.2 turbo is far different than the rest. And for me nothing tops it except the GT2.

  3. Lovely videos, but I'm poor and simply cannot afford a 997.2! And I loved wringing out my C2S manually and doing a little tap-dance on the pedals as I heel-toe-double-clutched my way thru a road much like that in the video. By the way, I called my car The Little Green Monster for the wonderful noises it made going up thru a canyon. It's gonna be tough finding a replacement.

Then welcome to my poor's club ;)

Now don't waste more time... go for the "Silver Moon" in your OP and then tune it to an AirWolf with 775 HP kit from TPC Racing for just pennies !!!

    Good luck

  4. Hmm, untamed beast. . . I kinda like the sound of that. . .

I hate to be biased but somehow I am in Porsches; the C2S is a very different car than the 996 turbo, 997.1 turbo or 997.2 turbo

There is a big gap in engineering, tech and performance between the 997.2 and 997.1 How? Watch this videos:

    and this

Of course the 997.1 turbo is far better in handling, stability and steering than the 996 turbo. As for the C2S, well... it's a nice car but no beast! Of did I mention that with the 997.1 turbo you can upgrade to 775 HP? ;)

  5. Just thinking about a turbo myself to replace my poor totaled C2S, but it would have to be an '05 or older to fit my budget. How are they like to drive compared to a normally aspirated C2S? I'd drive one myself, but the DMV won't let me behind the wheel for another 2-3 months.

With all respect the difference if like day and night... plus the 996 turbo is an untamed beast while the C2S is just a purring cat next to it ;)

  6. This is the latest mishap caused by my existing medical condition of epileptic seizures. Excuse the lousy drawing, but I couldn't bring myself to snap a cold-hearted cell phone photo. I'm under a doctor's care fror the condition, and thankfully nobody was hurt, as the accident happened at 40 mph and involved only parked cars. According to an old friend who's a retired atty, fellow car nut and once worked in the insurance biz, the car looks repairable. Aside from the sprung headlight (I'm a retired cartoonist), the drawing is quite accurate. If my insurance company will cooperate, I'd like to treat this topic as a repair work-in-progress, so I'm not asking for sympathy; I've already cried myself silly.

I started reading your post thinking you're joking or being sarcastic of the fact that in the last couple of days there have been unusual threads of Porsche accidents across different forums. But it turned out to be another accident... I'm sorry !

...but I'm glad you're alright and you'd have a chance to explore different side of life while not driving.

  7. Catch them in the act and spray them down with a water hose. Worked for me and although I did see that cat around after it was never on my car again.

    This thread is HILARIOUS !!!!

I had a bird poop on my Cayman yesterday evening and it displeased me... if it was a cat (although I am a cat person) I'd have a dog in my garage :)

Try a mouse trap with tuna ;)

  8. While I was driving back to work suddenly the A / C stopped cooling in my '06 manual Cayman S. The fan was running but the air wasn't cool. Upon sending the car to the dealer the computer was saying the outside temperature is -30 Celsius while it was above +45 Celsius. They tried to find the sensors nearby the glove compartment side as per the GCC specs but it wasn't there as my Porsche was imported from the US.

So far they removed the whole dashboard and couldn't find it.... can somebody help me pointing where are the two sensors for outside temperature located in the American 2006 Cayman S (manual transmission)?

    Thank you in advance.
