  1. Loren, Thanks for the additional info....after a bit of fussing to figure out which way to lever the detents, the ac unit popped right out. Turns out the rattle was caused by a penny which had fallen on edge into a narrow gap or false back at the rear of the tray. Vehicle movement caused the penny to flop back and forth and become a real annoyance..good riddance. Thanks again, Brock
  2. Thanks for the reply Loren....but that was the post I was following in my attempt to remove the tray. I don't see what is still holding the A/C unit in place once the screws are loosened.....it seems to be solidly in place.
  3. I have had some free time around the holidays and decided to tackle an annoyance in our 04 Cayenne S. Having purchaced the vehicle used it came with a rattle that emminates from what appears to be a false bottom of the utility tray below the PCM. Dealer says that if one fills the tray with too much stuff, stuff can fall behind the tray and thus rattle around while driving. I have read posts describing removal of the trim piece and the need to remove the A/C control head to access the tray. With torx head driver in hand, I headed to the garage to banish the cursed rattle. No problem with the trim and managed to remove the PCM without incident.....but the A/C head didn't want to budge, even after loosening the screws to either side of the unit. Not wanting to force anything to the point of failure (which I proudly have done on other vehicles in the past) I figured it would be a good idea to post here for additional guidance.......My wife thanks you in advance for any info that can be passed on that will eliminate the rattle while keeping the interior intact.... :D Brock

  5. As a very happy new owner of a 2004 Cayenne S I am poking around all of the various settings, controls etc. to see what the vehicle is all about. As might be expected, I am finding a few little items that either I don't understand yet or will require dealer attention. To begin with, I have been changing some of the "Comfort" settings accessed through the Multi Purpose Display i.e. turning on the horn beep when locking and the setting to unlock all doors with a single click. While the new settings will stay in effect a short time they seem to revert back to the original settings after a period of hours. Not a big deal but annoying all the same. I have to take it to the dealer to have the non-functioning cruise control looked at, so I thought I would bring up the MPD settings as well. Any thoughts as to the problem before I venture onward? Thanks in advance......
