    Hello!

Have you checked the tire pressure?

What is the condition of the tires? If they are new that is a fairly common. There are also some tires that track differently than others even once they are broken in. For example, "squirrelies".

Alignment might also have a role to play.

Have you checked to see if the car has any loose or worn suspension components?

We have a obligated roadtest and my car just went there, all is technical ok, my tires took 15k of asfalt, their pressure is 2.2 front and 2.4 behind ...orginal rims and tires aswell.. :(

  3. The stock Boxster's brakes are perfect in my mind. You can perform a full service (pads, rotors, fluid flush) DIY for about $450 USD, which is the same money it costs to do the job in my old Passat Wagon with floating calipers. Without a major power upgrade there's no need for more than the stock brakes have to offer.

    Mark

Agreed thanks for your advise, wasn't aware of this, just of to buy the zimmermans then with red stuff blocks ..

  4. I have one of the fiberglass aftermarket spoilers and have had very good luck with it. The key to the install is not to over tighten the set screws on install, because it is likely you will crack the unit at the mounts. Paint quality was very good and I get many compliments on it; be interesting to see if you can make the Cayman unit work or not.

May i ask where you bought it and what you have paid for it? I love your setup! do you also have picture with the spoiler out?

  5. I agree with mckinlay.

I can overpower the grip of the tire to the road almost any time with the stock 1997 brakes. I just can't do it 10 times a lap! I thought about upgrading to S brakes but it was going to be expensive. I haven't tracked the car yet, maybe someday. I did get new Zimmerman cad plated (to prevent rusty hubs) drilled rotors and Mintex pads. I am very happy with the performance. (S brakes are a bit heavier if you worry about that) If I came across a good set for a reasonable price I might upgrade them next time I needed new wheels/tires.

    1997 2.5L

My brakes are infact ok but my scarp yard offered me to change them with mine for €300,- with mine as trade-in, they are from a totalled S version, still thinking about it do...what more did you change on your car?

  6. Guys I would like to have your opinion, I have a standard boxster and want to upgrade my front brakes to boxster S brakes, is the worth the effort? I can get them pretty cheap although i have to remove them from a totall loss boxster S (looking for a how do you do it aswell! )

Your thoughts would be appreciated including a good DIY for removing them..

  7. Sorry, there is very little programming available on those early cars - door locks and a few options (like OBC, cruise control, etc.) but not much else.

I was at the garage yesterday and he hooked up the PIWIS system but where is the option to set this? i could see it either, under alarmanlage ??

  8. Today got my car back, porsche replaced the MAF with a 996 one, the values before the cats are ok acoording to porsche after the cats is near limits.. the best thing is they didnt charge me anything! but sofar so good.....they also check all hoses AOS but all seems ok.............f* weird !

  9. And the saga continues ...... ok got a call from my dealer they have measured everything, put the engine on a vacuum but they cannot find anything leaking they said, they swapped out the AOS and drove with it 100 miles but still it seems to be against the border of the threshold , he is still about to replace my cats as before the cats are the values ok(??) but still trowing in code 35 ,can anyone tell me what the limits are for my car ? they are looking but have no reference material as they dont have any US cars at hand.....?

  10. Air Oil Separator - you will find many discussions here about it's failure and replacement.

Ok it's still at the (st)(d)ealer at the moment, I tried to let them call me back as they told me they want to replace the cats !! I thought OMG they have no idea what ther are doing ...even i am wondering if i have to pay for all of this as they CEL came on when it was still in warrenty .anyways, I will try to let your suggestion to end up at the mechanic and see what he will say...I cant believe this is happening with only 33K on the clocks!

  11. Guys this is the error Motronic 5.2.2 Current Porsche fault code 35 ?

Hi all, I have a my1997 boxter LHD with 32000 Miles, my oilfill tube was cracked and porsche replaced this under warrenty, after about 250Miles my CEL was burning, i could see on the PWIS tool of the dealer that one 02 sensor was not working at all bank 2 after cat , so porsche replaced this ($600), i drove 150 miles and again the CEL, went back again and they did a full diagnose MAF was ok, power was ok, on my car but couldnt find any issue although my car was now reporting both bank cylinder 1-3 and 4 to 6 faulty or near limit, they resetted this with a pull of the accuc onnector ...today again my CEL burned, i have resetted this by pulling the accu cable and it was driving a little rough but after 50 miles seems ok now..does anyone have any idea what this fault can be? Can it hurt to leave this as i am afraid to go back to the dealer as they only want to replace parts like my o2 sensor which i think wasn't even faulty now...

I have bought the durametric software and cable for $150 on ebay so i am able to read out my car soon but any help would very welcome what i can check upfront before i go back to the (st)(d)ealer......

Any advice what to do is welcome, i am a newbie in this so please be gentle...i have not changed anything on my car like airfilters etc, and its just out of warrenty ..

    Hallo,

If the CEL is not blinking you are ok. When you get the code(s) report back and we'll see what the issue is.
