  1. Has anyone noticed that their gas tank on the 997-1 doesn't always fill to the top?

I just recently got a 2008 997 S. When the gas stops pumping and the hose clicks off, I think it's full...but then, after I start the car and drive off, I notice that the gauge is not at the 4/4 mark but closer to the 3/4 mark.

The next time this happened, I checked the guage as soon as it stopped pumping and again it was closer to the 3/4 mark. So I tried to pump more gas but the pump kept stopping as if it reached it's max.

Could this be specific to that gas station's pumps? Or my gas tank?

This may sound crazy but it worked for me. A friend told me to try turning the pump handle upside (a80 degrees) from normal position and it works. I cant explain why but it does. 2001 996. Give it a try.

  2. I weighed my C4S with me in it and 1/4 tank of fuel - - 3,580 pounds.

I need to put it on a diet for TT next year and really need some creative ideas.

Challenge: I do not want to go for the obvious first since the car is still a daily driver and I want to keep it that way for a couple more years. Can I remove the A/C? Sure. But I like it in the summer.

So the challenge is to remove things (Lighten things up) without sacraficing too much yet in daily drivability.

Can you offer up ideas?? THANKS SO MUCH.

It is tough to achieve this goal and retain the comforts of a daily driver. I would probably set a goal (and budget)of say 300 lbs and see what I could accomplish, exhaust system, keep the cats, add sst headers and lose the mufflers, change out seats but lose some comfort, lighten up the wheels, ditch the sound system, remove front trunk trim/carpet, lose the spare tire for a start.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

  3. I'm interested in a 2007 Turbo in Tampa at a place called "Tampa Bay Auto Exchange". There address is 1205 US Highway 19

    Holiday, FL 34691

I'm in California and I can't fly out to see the car. Is anyone close by that would be interested in taking a look for me? I would make it worth your while. It's a Silver Turbo.. The Number there is 1-866-716-1290. The guy I've been dealing with is named Robert.

Would like a visual report on scratches, interior flaws etc. Car looks immaculate in the high res pictures I was sent but it's still too hard to tell.

PM me if your in that area.

    Thanks !

    Hi,

If it was me and I was interested in dropping this much money I would call Doug at Vortex MotorSports (formerly Dave White Racing) and pay them to do an inspection. Vortex is a very good shop that specializes in P-car racing. They are very reputable. You can tell him Scott Jaehne (Blue 996) referred you to them. Their number is 813-874-1911. Call and talk with Doug. If you feel comfortable after talking let them give you a professional opinion. Here is their website. Good luck with the car.

  4. Anyone know of a step by step guide of how to replace the clutch on a 996? Preferably with pictures?

I've been searching the web and can't find anything. In my head it's quite straightforward but I just want to double check before I dive in.

I'm also planning on replacing the RMS and have found this helpful guide, but it doesn't cover much on the actual pressure plate and throw out bearing replacement or torques for any of the clutch related parts.

    Thanks,

    Scott

The last two months of Excellence Magazine has had very good detailed articles on the RMS and IMS replacement topics
