  1. Thanks for the info Loren. Doesnt look too hard just needed to know about any cables that might need disconnecting, and sure enough there is.
  2. Loren, Thanks for the info on the Becker wiring loom. I must admit I have yet to hit the glove box removal instructions. Plenty instructions on how to destroy the dash trim but nothing on removing the glove box. I will keep searching I am sure I will find it. Once again you come to the rescue - even in a foreign country
  3. I would like to replace the dashtrim in the car and believe you can do so quite easily if you remove the glove box. How does one do that and what are some of the hidden traps I need to look out for? Secondly I am in the process of installing a bluetooth handsfree kit and would like to wire it up to the stereo speakers. My car is a MY02 C2 Cab with Bose. I have noticed in some of the threads regarding the power adapter found near the centre console, thats great but unfortunately they don't talk about wiring up the speaker connections and where you need to do this. Any information on the above issues would be greatly appreciated. TIA
  4. I personally thought it sounded like the valve lifters tapping away quite loudly. I'm certainly no mechanic and it is only my opinion. I believe you can hear them increase in frequency as the engine increases revs.
  5. It certainly does. It gives the interior a different feel all together. I believe it actually brings it more to life now rather than the complete black interior it used to be
  6. I have just replaced the covers - what a PITA!!! The door handles were fine took a total of 2 minutes for both sides. The covers took me a ridiculous 1.5hrs. I actually painfully removed all screws and replaced them whilst the door covers were still on the doors. All bar 1 screw were replaced - on the rhs the last one right in the depths of the cover would not go back.
  7. Thanks Loren, Don gave me a copy of the pages relating to this. My car though does not have the snap ring, or more to the point I couldnt find it. It looks like mine is held in place by the plastic surround of the compartment cover. I need to spread that and then pull the pin out.
  8. I have received the Alu Look trim for the door handles and covers. I have already replaced the handles but was wondering how to remove the covers. I have tried to pull out the pin that seems the only way to remove the covers but no luck. Any pics would be great in assisting my in removing the covers.
  9. msindi, I got the part number of the internet from the tequipment Aluminium look page. I am ordering from Brandywine and hope he sends the right product. He has in the past but ya never know. Is there anyone else I should look at for a product code/supply? They are the only ones willing to ship to Australia and at a good supply price too.
  10. msindi, That is why I hope the kit I am ordering is not Arctic Silver. I have given them the tequipment part number and hope the right stuff arrives. Tony, Yeah, I did get the bug, and its the forums fault! :cursing: I just cant control myself now. Especially when you consider what it would have cost me to get this stuff at delivery it so cheap to do it aftermarket! It is also nice to have an Australian Dollar that is so strong to allow me to do it so cheap too :clapping: Seeing other porsches done up is an inspiration.
  11. Tony, I have yet to complete the upgrades :) I will plonk it in there once the upgrades have been made. I am waiting for the following to arrive: Aluminium Look Instrument Surround Aluminium Look Centre Console Aluminium Look Door Handles and Covers Aluminium Slats in Centre Vent Need to install: Footrest / Dead pedal - needs to be machined to RHD GT3 CII Side Skirts Installed: PSS9 Suspension - 25.5" 3 Spoke Aluminium Steering Wheel Garage Door Opener Spoiler Switch Once it is all complete she will be posted :D Regards
  12. So the aluminium look finish is actually arctic silver finish and not a "silver" colour of different flavour. My concern is that it will clash with the current aluminium look gear shift and handbrake. But I guess if Tequipment is coded as such then it is fine. What is the Arctic silver paint code by the way? Thanks for your help once again Loren.
  13. Now that I know that both pieces are the same and one is a complete kit, any one know what the paint codes for the following parts would be. I don't want to order them and receive them in Arctic Silver. Part Number #1: 000 044 802 25 - Complete 4 piece Kit Part Number #2: 986 552 995 09 - Centre Console Only I assume that Part Number #2 would be a subset part of Part Number #1 and the colour code should be the same but I would like to confirm
  14. netrophile, Unfortunately it is not a direct correlation when converting labour rates. In Australia it is AU$100 => US$75 Unfortunately in Australia that is expensive due to the lower salaries and higher tax rates on income. The same with the UK you need to compare salaries and all other costs. You earn pounds therefore pay in pounds, I earn AUD I pay in AUD. It's just a part of life. BTW don't complain we pay the equivalent of US$160,000 for a 911 996 C2 Cab. Now that is ridiculous. :cursing: :offtopic:
  15. ElusiveC4, With respect to sound, all I can say is fantastic. I have had mine for about 800km now and it has really opened up. The growl is becoming louder and more sweet than initial install. The other thing I have noticed is that the fuel economy is actually better. Don't know what this might be attributed to but I actually hold 2nd and 3rd longer than I used to and the fuel economy has improved. If anything I would have thought with this kind of driving style it would decrease the fuel economy. The last time I filled up I needed 50litres of fuel and did 370km. This included a fair amount of kms done with the A/C running as well. I normally get 420kms out of 50 litres in my Nissan Maxima so 50kms less in the 911 isn't too bad IMO.
  16. Loren, as per usual you are a wealth of knowledge and information. Thank you very much!
  17. Thanks for that Loren. Does that mean that both centre consoles are exactly the same and no variation to design ?
  18. Can someone please tell me the difference between the following two part numbers: Rear Centre Console Part Number #1: 000 044 802 25 - This is the same for both Australia and Germany Part Number #2: 986 552 995 09 - This is the US part number Your assistance would be greatly appreciated
  19. I have just finished installing my new Gert Aluminium pedals. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to do once you knew how to squeeze your body into the footwell. I am not a small bloke and I am currently feeling the pain in rib cage! Gas pedal took a whole 2 minutes to install. Nice and easy. Brake and clutch were very interesting. I left the original rubber pads on as guides to making certain that the holes were level after the marking and it also assisted in making the holes on the brake as it would not let the drill bit slip :) I managed to get one screw on each of the brake and clutch pedals in 15 minutes, but the second screw on each pedal took me an hour to do. What a nightmare. Unfortunately it did not end there. I have a RHD car pedal set is for a LHD car. The problem here is that the footrest is totally different between the two cars! Unfortunately the pedal cannot be mounted in its current state and needs to be machined. I hope my wife can convince some of the engineers at GM to make the alterations for me :) Gert was very helpful once again in offering to take the pedal back without any hesitation. I guess thats why so many people rave about his service. Not even a hint of wanting to shrug it off as my problem. Very appreciative of his action.
  20. Tony, I think the server was down earlier so try it again it should be working now. Regards Arthur
  21. Tony, Have a read of the following post on funcarsonline. It will give you various measurements of various cars around the world. http://www.funcarsonline.com/ubbthreads/sh...b=5&o=7&fpart=1 Regards Arthur
  22. Steve, Thanks for the advice. It looks like I should really try to get my arse into a set before I buy them  Thanks for all the advice it has been great. I don't let my emotions normally get the better of me when making any kind of purchase. It looks like this time I have. Regards Arthur
  23. OK. I might have found a complete set of Sport Seats in the US for $1800.00 I assume it is a good buy? They are coming out of a newly delivered car and the owner wants GT3 seats. I believe these seats are not electric? My current comfort seats are full electric, can I retrofit the rails off mine to the sport seat? Or do I simply use the upper half of the seat only? The only thing I am not certain is whether they are heated. Patiently waiting for the cost of shipping now :) Regards Arthur
  24. Loren, Fantastic!!!! I would have tried to yank the plates off rather than lift upwards. Your help is greatly appreciated. Regards Arthur
  25. I stand corrected.......... I must have an old image where it does not have the side plate. Thanks msindi Regards Arthur
