  1. Komplex I tried everything before and it would save you time hooking up to a PST2 or similar as Loren suguests. On my 2001 S it was caused by the door lock which eventually failed shut. Hivez
  2. Thanks for everyones replies. I took the bumper off and cleaned out an amazing amount of debris. I couldn't see any damage so took it back to the aircon garage. He eventually found a very small leak coming from the pipework to the centre of the car but couldn't get in any further without taking the bumper off so hopefully that will be tomorrow.The guy that did the original test appologised that he didn't find the leak first time and took the £75 for the regas off what ever this repair bill is going to be. I would like to fit grills but won't that cut down the airflow -its like having a couple of dustbins in there.
  3. 2001 Boxster S, 6 Speed manual, UK-South Wales Had my air con regas last week after noticing a decline in the cooling. The guys at the aircon garage said it was down on gas but was not leaking- When I got it back I noticed that they had checked the fuses because the panel wasn't fitted properly and was hoping they had not just changed a fuse although they looked fine to me. When I checked it -it did seem better but it was quite a cold UK day anyway but a week later it's back to normal, infact its the same temp with or without air con with the setting set to LO. I checked the air con pipes with the engine running after a long run with it set to LO around the battery area and the pipes were at a temperature equivalent to the metal work surround ie not cold, the pipes felt like they were slightly pulsing. Is there anything I can check myself before I take it back. It had a 48k service recently is there anything that may have been disconnected perhaps near the polyrib belt that was changed (clutching at straws now) Grateful for any ideas
  4. [ I would have to guess that you have a defective door switch. That's one thing in common with all three because it's acting like one of the doors isn't closed. Is there any easy way to check this I would agree with Wardhog. This happened to me -The courtesy lights came on when driving. Then the central locking played up but the remote still locked the car. Then the passenger door lock failed. I would stick a post on here to see if anyone has a PST2 near you to find out which switch/lock it is. If it is the lock get it changed before it fails-especially if it fails like it did with me- with the door locked.

Just to finish this post off- The problem with the passenger door was traced to a failed door lock (Thanks Richard for the sugguestion)- You can peel back the door trim just enough to chisel the lock to bits. Disconnect the battery first before messing with the trim -there are some good posts on doing this- and remember to reseal the trim.
  6. For completeness of this post. I tracked down what caused this. At some point the connectors on the transmission had come loose and were held in with tie wraps. Whoever fixed this had at some point pushed the cable hard enough to pop it out of the guide/bolt under the centre console next to the handbrake (see the red circle on the diagram .The cable had been sat on top of the guide rather than sitting to the side and was thus bent at a bad angle for the cable to slide. Over a period of time this caused the internal rod/cable to fracture. I measured the length of the broken rod and it was right over the apex of the guide. Anyone who has had to pop back their connectors at the transmission end, might want to check under the console as a precaution.
  7. I am in the middle of replacing my snapped gear selector cables. The manual states to thread the transmission cable either side of the B+ wire. (the red cable in the pic). This is impossible without cutting off the rubber gaitor at the mid point on the cable. What would help is if I could disconnect the B+wire near the top of the engine- Does anyone know if there is a connector I can't see one although it is getting dark. Hi I have been posting this under "Anyone help (Dispair)" I found why the gear had gone sloppy after some sugguestions from forum members and checking the clips etc. However this break is amazing snapping the con rod and the wire cable in half about six inches back from the threaded adjuster on the gear selector. Is this a job for me or my local shop -anyone changed this? Boxster S 2001 Manual UK RHD
  10. Thanks I just wish I could open the passenger door now. I disconnected the battery for 10 mins ( recommend leaving the key in the ignition switched on unless you have no neighbours Arrrh) but the central locking light stays on.
  11. Did you try to insert your key in the door, lock and unlock it? That usually renders the alarm mode back into normal position. Thanks I'll give anything ago but I just tried it and the door is still stuck. I get two horn beeps on the press of the fob and the car remains unlocked, then I press the fob again and it locks okay without the horn beeps. Could be related to the underseat controller failing. Loren mentioned in a previous post to my windows dropping overnight that this unit may be faulty. Also took the centre console off to see why I can't change gear and all seems well, anyone any experience of what to look for the other end (under the belly pan I guess)
  12. It was one of those days when I just had to drive (Boxster S 2001 RHD UK model manual). First I opened the door with the key it had gone into power save mode and the alarm went off straight away I was well inside 10 seconds. The passenger door will not open from inside or outside, the window goes down only if you press the switch The central locking switch stays red and will not reset even doing the 2 clicks thing. The horn gives 2 short blips on opening the car But anyway it still drives (foolish) drove down the road there was a pinging noise and the gear lever went all floppy and stuck in first. I am outside in the frezing UK weather taking the centre console out to see if I can do anything Can anyone help with any of this ( someone tell me its a fuse) Dave Sorry I also stuck this in the 987 forum I am desperate
  13. Hi Anyone help with this. Come back to my car after a couple of weeks away. Opened the car with the key due to the power saving mode (I believe). The alarm went off which was unusual. My passenger couldn't open the door nor did the window go down. The central locking light stay on when the engine is running and wont disengage/engage to turn off? A few weeks ago I had a problem with the windows dropping on their own (Ferry's Ghost ?) Is this in anway conected pehaps with the underseat controller. I looked at TSB 6/98 5737 but this looks a mechanical fix to me.
  14. Not tried it yet but I need to stick a piece of tape over the micro switch to help it engage- the faults known as Ferries Ghost Thanks Loren for pointing me in the righ direction
  15. Help- looked out of my window this morning to see both windows had dropped right down on my Boxster S, of course it had been raining (UK) so plenty of water in the cab. The alarm hadn't gone off, it hadn't been driven for 2 weeks, my barometer shows a real pressure drop (could this be a cause) Any Ideas (Please)? 2001 Boxster S Manual UK RHD
