  1. Some A-hole rear-ended me last week. To me it looked like minor cosmetic, but the body shop came back w/ $8k of repairs.

I remember reading a post about submitting a claim to insurance for the diminished value of a P-car after an accident. I can't find that post, but it mentioned a website or company that even provides devalued estimates to submit (I think). Does anyone know what I am talking about, or have I been sniffing 91 octane too much?

    Thanks,

  2. Cayenne Front Pads and Rotors DIY

DIY FRONT BRAKE JOB Total elapsed time including jacking, wheel removal and the job itself was 90 minutes I ordered the rotors from Sunset and the ceramic pads from Pap-parts. Due to manufacturing differences we have seen, you must determine the size of the rotors on your vehicle prior to ordering. The easiest way to figure out your brake size (other than actually measuring the diameter of your rotors) is to look at the caliper. It should have "17ZR" or "18ZR" cast into the body.

  3. Abraxas,

I would like you to have performance & save money. Since you already have an exhaust that flows well and sounds good you don't need to do anything else there.

As far as the intake, I would highly suggest the BMC F1 free flow filter for $110. It seems too simple but it works great. You will get much better sound and better throttle response (especially on a tiptronic). I think it has just as much if not more surface area than the EVOMS CAI (I haven't measured them). If you take out your stock airbox and look at it up close you will see that it is very well designed and has all the elements of a CAI already built into it. It sucks cold air in via the snorkel, and it that's not enough air then it has holes drilled in the bottom. It's huge! And I suppose if you wanted even more airflow you could probably cut away a corner and cover it with mesh. Personally, I ordered the EVOMS CAI, and after taking apart the stock airbox, I sent it back.

Take the other $400 you would have spent on the CAI and spend it on a suspension upgrade.

    Good Luck!

  4. 1 - I use Hawk dustless pads now

2 - very carefully, bend the u clip attached to the strut and squeeze it out then pull it apart while sliding a small flat bladed driver ito the clip

Can you tell me how to disconnect the brake wear sensor wire. I couldn't get this part disconnected and may have broken the connector. Is there some trick to it, Please advise.. thanks.

Ok, found the Hawk dustless at Pap-parts.com

Do you know what size/type the bolt is that holds the rotor on? Is it a Torx?

  5. Jim,

You can definitely do it! Check out this link!

The problem with any aftermarket stereo is the stupid fiberoptic Bose amp. To my knowledge there is no way to go from RCA to fiberoptic. This means you have to replace the Bose amp and then of course you may run into issues with the crappy Bose speakers. Good news is, once you rip all that junk out you never have to worry about it again! B)

  6. I did the mk11 mod on a 3.6 can, paid $80 to a muffler shop.(Those suckers are huge and heavy)it's not as loud as i thought it would be on idle, but it does sounds really good on high rpm's. I installed the ebay headers that's going for $150 total including shipping. And did the mod for the $10 intake mod also "Air box modification found in DIY Mods by Blueline". All this mods For $240, I am very pleased with the result. The car just goes with a deep sound like a race car. It's amazing, the car is so much more fun to drive now. And it did not cost me a fortune. I highly recommend it.

heres the picture i showed the muffler shop.

    Hey Miks,

Do you have any sound bites of this set-up? I'd love to hear it!

    Perry,

Looks great! That's exactly what I plan to do as well. I love the pioneer units and I can't wait to rip out that POS Becker unit and throw it off a cliff!

  8. I can tell you that they sound GREAT!

    Seems to improve pedal response.

I doubt any real HP gains.

I was dissappointed that for the money they didn't send ANY hardware, and customer service sucks.

Also keep in mind that you may need a muffler shop to fabricate new hangers. Not Sure on the S, but my V6 needed it. Otherwise you could stress the connection to the headers and that would be an expensive repair.

  9. Sid,

If you have the Bose audio you will have to replace everything most likely. The Bose amp has a fiberoptic input and there are no converter boxes. The bose speakers are not designed to work with an aftermarket amp. Will they work with a 3rd paty amp? Yes, but not sure how long and there's a good chance your sound quality will go down significantly.

    Hi guys,

I own a Cayenne v6 03 mdl, with the basic porsche head unit (wout nav). im thinking of replacing it with an aftermarket head unit. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  10. I just got my 06 V6 cayenne, and was doing some research about the bypass. I was planning on getting the fabspeed, because i had read so many good reviews of it. however,If everyone is in agreement not to get it, then what other brands are their to look at. Thanks.

side note: if i were to replace the filters, what would you go with, BMC or K&N

You could try Schnell. I don't know much about them though.

I went with the BMC filter. Some reviews said it was better. If you search on Ebay you might be able to find one for about $10 more than a K&N. Otherwise, I don't think it's enough of a difference to pay full prive vs. the K&N at only $40-50.

  11. Peanuts,

Who is DMS? And would they have anything that would help the LAG in my V6?

    Aaron

    :jump:

After installing the DMS software in my ECU the Lag is GONE!

I test drove the TT-S this past Wednesday, and I am driving a far superior car today!

It is not that I can not afford to buy one TT-S, I just do not see the need anymore.

Granted that I just had my car back for a couple of hours, and I do not know how the fuel consumption did if any get affected, but man I almost hit the car in front on the first red light.

It is a real eye opener! how easy I got used to the “LAG”. It is not just the lag, it is everything else between 1700-2000rpm and up.

Why is it that Porsche did not do this from the very beginning?

Why make its customers put up with substandard and dangerous engine mappings?

I have seen the light, and I never go back to any other company to “fix” my car, techart, ruf, gemballa I tested them all. They all got the chance to do it right and did not.

The closest thing would be 9ff but then why settle for them when you have DMS.

Again I have no bias but the product itself. I have spent at least well over $10k trying them all.

Thanks Phil and Robert I just hope that the car is as good as today in the heat ;)
