  1. You are using the wrong MAF. 997-1 S and the GT3 are different engines and use different MAFs.

    Your 997-1 uses 986.606.125.01.

    Hello Loren,

I used my MAF, that I plugged into the GT3 MAF tube from FVD. The only diff that I saw was that the unlike the stock 997-1S MAF tube, the GT3 MAF tube has the MAF positioned a little higher so it isn't as exposed to the air stream as the stock tube that unfortunately is molded in with the airbox. Could this be the cause of the bad metering? Is the GT3 MAF longer than the S MAF?

  2. Hello again!!! I was trying to fabricate a cold air intake using an HKS filter. I used a MAF tube from a buddy with a GT3. It is slightly larger. However, the plastic mesh screen was removed. I put everything together and started the car up. Idling was not too bad but a little rough. I tried running it and it ran slow like the car was so rich. My question is this, does the screen mesh make a big difference??? I know its there for a reason and I was told that it's only there for protection... Anyonne have ideas????? :renntech:

  3. HELP!!!! As I was changin the air filter element I noticed that the plastic hardline from the rubber vacuum hose to the intake manifold came loose. My quaetion is this... Where in the intake manifold does this plastic tube attach to??? I am getting no CEL but will it cause problems??? I have a shop manual but can't find anything on vac hoses... Please someone help me on this! Thanks.

  4. Thanks JFP! I had a sealed odysee battery in my '08 STi. It was really small to fit around the intercooler piping for the front mount intercooler. Had no issues and at full load gave out 13.7 volts. It was very light as well. I was never a fan of large batteries and thought I could put a smaller unit in the Porsche. I asked the local dealer here in the Philippines and their reply did not make much sense. Anyway, your suggestion sounds good. I just need to find the local distributor of the optima here in my neck of the woods...

  5. If you mean the resonance chamber in the air filter box, this is just for environmental reasons (noise) K & N filters and silicon hoses gives little or no advantage, only a special intake manifold and air filter box, chip, possibly with headers and exhaust is worth it IMHO.

Thanks!!! So far what seems to work was redoing the exhaust to remove the large and restrictive stock mufflers and 400 cel cats and fabricate a free flowing exhaust with 200 cel cats per bank. It's a little louder but pulls like crazy :thankyou:

  6. Hey guys!!! I just have a question on this subject. I know that freeing up the intake on some cars can make some HP. On other cars (like a Subaru STi) messing with the intake actually makes LESS power. My question is this, will a high flow intake system like KNN or the like be good for the 997 S??? I also saw some kits that blank of the resonance chamber and replace it with a silicon hose and advertise 15 HP gains with this mod alone. Following this logic, simply fabricating a blocking plate to the resonance chamber will do the same trick. Also what exactly is the purpose of this chamber with thits sensor and vacuum fittings???
