99 C4 replied to 99 C4's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)Originally it started when I put in one of these K&N air intakes and got the ABS and PSM lights to go on. At that time I was going to change the MAF sensor but a friend of mine that works at Porsche told me to change back to the old air intake. So I did and that took care of the problem. Then a few weeks after that the cel light went on again and the codes were Bank 1 Sensor, Bank 2 Sensor on the right side. Don't remember the exact code, but the guy who ran the codes told me just to change all 4. So I did.
99 C4 posted a topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)My check engine went on and i had the codes checked had a needed to replace my oxygen sensors, so i changed all 4 of them and cleared the codes. 2 days later i get a check engine light again and the new code is Camshaft adjustment 1325. Any imput would be appreciated. By the way I have a 99 C4 with 60K miles.
99 C4 replied to dux911's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)I Have a C4 and eventhough I don't use it as a daily driver, I do take my car skiing. The most important thing are the snow tires. As far as the kids are concerned, well I hope they are small because from what I remember there is not a lot of room in the back. Especially if you decided to go for a 1 hr+ drive to the slopes.
99 C4 replied to rcg412's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)Perfect - Thanks a lot again. If you have anything else pm me. Jack
99 C4 replied to rcg412's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)I got a guy that works at the NYC Porsche dealer and does some work on the weekends. PM me for his contacts if interested.
99 C4 replied to 99 C4's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)I checked my brake fluid also, and it is good. In terms of battery, well I just replaced it in January. No problems in starting, as it turns over on the first try. I will need to check the ABS sensors.
99 C4 replied to 99 C4's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)If it only is the low brake fluid, I will be a very happy man! I would hate to mess around and need to change the MAF sensor.
99 C4 replied to AVIA8R's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)I was told by my dealer Manhattan Motor Cars, that they don't have OEM rubber mats for the 996. Did I get the wrong info?
99 C4 posted a topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)I have a 99 C4, and this weekend I went for a drive and my ABS light went on along with PSM/off. I did not do any hard braking or anything like that, It just went on during the drive. After pulling over and re-starting the car, the light's went off. This is the second time this happened this month, eventhough the lights go off after re-starting, I wanted to know if anybody experienced this, or has an idea of what might be causing this.
Can you recommend one that you use?
I have it in for about 8 months, with no problems. It's not a performance modification, but purely for sound reasons. This will not be necessary if you get an exhaust upgrade.
99 C4 replied to dsteinaz's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)Dan, Where did you get the new handle for this price? Also, has anyone ever considered changing the lever system to the electronic button system the newer Carreras have?
