  1. Anyone know a cheap source for these, don't necessarily need to be OEM. I'm told I need new disks front and rear on my MY2005 Cayenne Turbo (modified by Ruf with Turbo S brakes). I've got a quote from Porsche and they want about 1000 USD a disk over here in the UK. Seems ridiculous to me given I can get disks cheaper than that for my GT3 from a top end race manufacturer! Any ideas?
  2. Ok problem still not fully resolved. Sometimes when unlocking the car its still trying to point the mirrors too the sky, beyond the lock stops. It seems like maybe the system needs centreing and reseting? I'm not sure what the prob is, but it seems to be as if the keys are out of sync with each other and because its moving out of bounds its recording positions for each key that are not possible hence ramming into the lock stop and making a bad noise... Any ideas how to fix, or am I kidding myself and need a whole new comfort settings control system?
  3. wow thanks. My PCM crashed and must have set this itself - its a 2004 Turbo...
  4. My memory wing mirrors have started playing up recently and ending up in random places every time I get in the car. This is not good as sometimes its trying to move the mirror beyond its limit. I've also noticed that with the adjuster set to move the right hand mirror, the left hand is moving in unison. With the adjuster set to move the left, only that one changes. Is this likely just to be the switch playing up and needing to be replaced, or do I have a more serious problem?
  5. Hatfield. As I drove the car home from them (I collected from their premises and wired money to owner after a clean bill of health) the engine check light came on when I went to full throttle. You can imagine my horror knowing this was a Ruf modified car and potentially a very expensive problem. Fortunately just the coil packs. My feeling is that the owner blanked the diagnostics and then the OPC didn't check anything properly. They didn't even check the 2nd key worked, headlights turned off on that same trip I got the checklight, phone module didn't work, interior light didn't work, battery needed replacement etc etc...
  6. Mine was a bit like that when I bought private having paid for an OPC inspection and its more than 2k work trust me! None of the issues have come back since I changed coil packs, new head light bulbs (not units although they modified mine so that plugs attach to lights not on slider anymore), new battery etc etc. Then all my wheels cracked thanks to british road surfaces (these were 22" Rufs). Ruf did me a deal on replacements though which was good. Anyway it will get better.
  7. My car has a Ruf conversion which includes the Turbo S brakes. Does anyone know if there is a space saver tyre available from Porsche that can clear these callipers as the one in the back of my 05 turbo doesn't!
  8. Not even that I don't think as conductor seems ok. Bit of tape should do it!
  9. Thanks for the attachment. Will help me identify which part I need to order as I've diagnosed the problem. There is part of the seat loom which has been cut my a piece of metal sticking out of the subframe so it was shorting against this. I've moved the cable so it won't hook on it and wrapped some insulation tape around it. All functionality returned and no longer shorting. Ideally I need to replace this bit of loom but not sure whether practical approach is to just tape the bit of frame and loom and leave them for now. Depends on how far the loom goes I guess. Its not very accessible from behind the seat which is where I found the problem to be.
  10. Been thinking about my problem. Given it keeps blowing the fuse, maybe the harness under the seat got caught up in the mechanism when slid forwards by the valetters and cut it shorting it out. Will take a look but not easy to get in there I don't think?
  11. Any idea? I have a RHD cayenne turbo which I took to a hand carwash with inside vallet too. I was there whilst they did this and they did jetwash a bit too much for my liking into the gap between windscreen + bonnet trying to blow out leaves. Anyway they then went on to clean the interior which I didn't watch too carefully. When they gave the car back the drivers electric seat was maximum forwards with backrest straight up and the controls no longer work. Also the steering wheel won't adjust. Passenger side is ok. So any ideas what they have done? I checked the fuses and found that fuse 24 on driver side (Right hand side as Right hand drive car) was blown. This is a 30amp fuse and it keeps blowing instantly when I replace it. Is it possible they've somehow got the seat into some funny position where the motor is straining as soon as it gets power and drawing too much current? If so, any ideas who to fix this. I'm concerned the dealer will just want to replace the seat or something similarly hideous to my wallet (no warranty as Ruf modified car). Does anyone know how to disconnect the seat so I could at least isolate whether its a problem with the electric wheel or the seat and perhaps move the wheel back in a bit so I could at least drive car without airbag 2mm from my face... Thanks for any help.
  12. Arghhhhh I think you have it. I've unfortunately got the old type so I'm guessing it would be wiser to sell them than mess around with spacers. What a pain! Thanks for your help.
  13. Hi, I've got a Ruf converted Cayenne which runs on 22" wheels but I've had 2 crack in 2 months so sending back to Ruf for inspection. Meanwhile, I've bought some sport design 20" wheels second hand. The problem is they won't fit over my front callipers!!! I believe the Ruf conversion uses the Turbo S brake callipers? The Ruf wheels that clear ok are : 10J x 22H2 ET50 The Porshe Sport Designs which don't are : 9J x 20H2 ET60 Does this just mean I need 10mm spacers? There is plenty of clearance with the Ruf wheels. Also how will I know if I need longer wheel bolts? Is the rule just that the length sticking out the back of the wheel through the spacer is longer than the width of the bolt? Are they likely to fit regardless? Given they are still the standard Porsche items that came with the car. Thanks for any assistance. You wouldn't believe the frustration when I mounted one up and realised the problem. I bought the sport designs 2nd hand only to find a nail in one tyre this am, then this! Doubt its a consideration but the tyres on the 22" wheels were 295x30 instead of 275x40. In fact I think my question can be boiled down to, what spacers are required to mount sport designs on a turbo S?
  14. Does anyone know the amp ratings of the various aux sockets in the Cayenne, particularly in the boot? TIA Dan
  15. Is there a way to drive the bose amp from a non PCM head unit? Would save a lot of hassle on stereo upgrades.
  16. For future reference, there is a button combination that resets the PCM. I think its holding down 2,5,8 but would need to dig out an email from my dealer to confirm. It's definitely 3 keys on the keypad.
  17. I have the Ruf exhaust on my CT and very happy with it. About the right level of noise for me with no drone.
  18. Is there a retrofit kit to remove all the chrome bling around the windows/side of the doors etc. If so any idea how much and how hard to fit? (MY05 car)
  19. Hi I am just about to buy a 2004 boxster with MPH and I live in Germany so need KPH is there any changes other than the clock face that is needed and if not do you have the proceedure, maybe I will swap with you? Lance It's just a clock face change and Ruf can do this for you as they offer both MPH or KM inlays. Not sure how hard it is to perform but my Ruf modified Cayenne started as MPH and was changed to KM by Ruf.
  20. Any idea if the analogue/digital tuner can be substituted in to replace the analogue only unit?
  21. Does it have additional inputs? I was under the impression that all you get is the analogue tuner. Certainly no indication of more in the PCM display etc.
  22. Thanks. So I'm guessing that having a phone module installed isn't a prerequisite and this bypasses it? I ask since my phone module is broken and rather than replace it may as well get this. Is there a switch in there to re-attach the CD changer. I think I read about this, but other docs on the mobridge site suggest it requires getting to the device and putting in a fibre optic loop back? Thanks for any help, Dan
  23. How does the phone work. Just like it was the SIM inside my PCM? Also how do you pair the phones does it somehow add in menu options to do this? On the ipod front I read something about it being able to get lots of song titles on the screen. how does it do this when its just pretending to be a CD changer.
  24. Mobridge have a combined ipod/bluetooth unit that seems to be quite popular. Not seen it in action though so this is not an endorsement.
