  1. There is a hack that involves a jumper to the fuse box that allows the regular high beems to come on as soon as the car is started. Works like a charm and passes Canadian Tires certification. I'll see if I can find it and try and post it. Pat
  2. Thanks for the reply. I was talking about the hard part of the top and the clamshell. The seal fits but there is a small gap between the seal and clamshell. I guess I can adjust it to make it tighter. Just wanted to make sure there is is a gap. Thanks again. Pat
  3. Just purchased a hardtop for my 2000 s on Ebay. Quite happy with the fit, but there is a gap about the width of my finger where the hardtop sits on the edge of the clamshell. Just wanted to know if any other owners of hardtops have the same issue and is it normal? Haven't washed it yet so I don't know about leaks. Seems pretty quiet on the highway with just a small air leak on the passenger side. Not that annoying, and no rattles. Overall quite happy with the addition. Pat
  4. Just got back from a short holiday with the wife, to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho Replaced the IMS bearing in my 2000S Boxster last month,CV boots,and LN's low temp thermostat. Trip was 350 miles one way. Got a very impressive 35 mpg (imperial) or 30 mpg (US). Speed was between 70-75 mph. Temps in Idaho were in the upper 80's. Other than the wife telling me to slow down,(the occasional blast to 100 while passing)..no issues. Pat
  5. I have a 2000S and they are like yours. First time I noticed.
  6. I called LN Engineering and left a message concerning the retrofit kit. Charles called back, left a message with some possible solutions. I extracted the new bearing, and discovered the center shaft could be removed and inserted by hand. Charles was kind enough to offer overnight shipping of another kit. I will be sending the original back to LN Engineering. Pat
  7. Has anybody performed the IMS retrofit on their Boxster? Mine went without incident until the installation of the new hub flange. As per the instructions, the hub flange was started using 3 M6x25 bolts, tightening in a star pattern to slowly draw the new hub flange in. However, the bearing support/center stud popped out of the back and the threads on the stud were nowhere near coming thru the flange. I carefully removed the hub flange,and pulled the bearing support/center stud back into the bearing. I can't see a way for this to work now since the center stud is no longer "pressed" into the bearing. Anybody come across this issue. I guess I'll have to contact LN Engineering. Pat
  8. Purchased a 2000 S in August with 22767 miles. I know that IMS failures occur in a small number of cars, but wanting to be proactive, changed the oil and inspected filter and oil for metal fragments. None were found. Using the Durametric diagnostic tool showed camshaft deviation 1 at -1.20 and deviation 2 at -4.03. Does anyone know if this is in the acceptable range? If deviations become too great, is there more of a chance of IMS failure?.......Pat
