  1. I have a 99 996 C2 with sport Bilstein suspension and Eibach springs. Lately, I have been hearing creaking noises from the front end, possibly from the suspension, when going over some of the rough roads here in the Dallas area. Suspension was recently done, and has new tires. It sounds like somthing scrapes, or almost like it bottoms out. Then there are times when noises disappear, especially when I have taken it to Boardwalk Porsche. I have 3 piece Techart Daytona's 18x8.5 with 245/35/18 Continental's. Has anyone encountered this or someone with similiar problems?
  2. Loren, thanks for all the great information you have provided. :jump: I just completed clutch, flywheel, and RMS replacement. I worked on it a total of 10 hours this last week, and just completed the work today. It was worth the time and effort. Now, I did this upgrade despite some negative comments I have read. I replaced the flywheel with a LW flywheel and a stage 3 clutch kit. I figured this would be a nice combination with all the other mods on my car. WOW, was I right, gear noice is minimal to the experince when shifting 1st thru 6th gear. Thought I would drop this quick line and thank all Porsche enthusiasts for sharing their wealth of knowledge.
  3. are these for the transmission bell housing? flywheel? or pressure plate?
  4. 99 996 c2 3.4. Sorry, guess that was vital information.
  5. Anyone out there who can assist with torque specs on a lightweight flywheel bolts, pressure plate and transmission?
  6. :renntech: Thanks for the great information, I have done some searching and found you can actually purchase the triple square bits (serrated wrench) at NAPA Auto Parts for just around $6.00 in sizes of 8mm, 10mm and 12mm. It appears these bolts are used on Volkswagen axle and flywheel's. How it wound up on my Porsche is beyond me.
  7. Sounds like I may have issues removing this bolt... Its nice and snug, I just tried to loosen the bolt and it did not feel like it was breaking loose. Its hard to believe someone would have worked on a Porsche with less than 22k and replaced one bolt on a transmission with a 12 point T50 Torx. I purchased my 996 with 22k when it was 4 yrs old. I asked the dealer if they would provide any history on it, but my request declined. It now has 38k and a burnt clutch, so I took on a DIY project which has proven to be a pain with this bolt. Loren, thanks for your quick response and assistance.
  8. :help: I am looking at replacing clutch on my 99 996. All bolts are same size with the exception of the bottom one on the bell housing? it appears to be a torx with more points that the standard torx. Any assistance with size or type of socket that I may be looking for is greatly appreciated.
