  1. Hooked up the aftermarket radio yesterday, a Blaupunkt 420BT. Without the radio power antenna connected to car harness Connector A pin 5, super crappy FM. With the power antenna wire feeding the harness, nice reception. The power antenna wire is usually used to feed a motorized (up/down) antenna and wasn't sure if the OEM antenna amp was fed the same way or independently. Question answered, make sure you feed the OEM antenna amplifier with switched or power antenna out power if you want reception!
  2. Bump and a big THANKS! I recently purchased a 2004 C2. I noticed the engine compartment light connector was unplugged and reconnected it... Cool, now I have an engine compartment light! A few days later when working on stereo upgrades, I noticed through the engine lid vents that the light was on despite the lid being closed... I assumed it was a bad switch, and probably why the previous owner had unplugged the light in the first place. I had the front trunk lid slightly ajar with a battery tender connected directly to my battery, as I had the cabin doors open for extended periods of time and didn't want to kill the battery. It would not of occurred to me in a million years that opening the front trunk turns on the engine compartment light, but sure enough, that was it! Thanks for saving me the time of tearing apart and trying to fix my engine compartment latch/switch! What a bizarre light circuit... Any theories why Porsche wired it that way? I'm sure some German engineer had a very logical reason why it is wired that way, but it certainly escapes me.
  3. 2004 911 C2, base stereo, which I am upgrading to a Blaupunkt Toronto 420BT. Question about the windshield antenna amp... How the antenna amp is powered in the stock configuration? Is it powered from the CDR-23, like a traditional (motorized up/down) power antenna? The standard DIN plug A pin 5? Or is it powered directly and independently of the radio from another switched circuit? Ssome other connections on DIN plug A of the CDR-23 are a bit non-standard, and before I start feeding 12V+ from the radio into the wiring harness, I wanted to double check. I've ordered the Bentley 996 service manual, but it hasn't arrived yet. Hopefully it will have 2003/2004 wiring diagrams. Thanks in advance for any help. This web site is a great resource!
  4. Thanks... That makes sense. And presumably if the diagnosis line is not connected, it goes into lock mode.
  5. Loren, Thanks for moving my post to the correct place. I understand your description of how the CDR-23 programming works, and it makes perfect sense for units that are connected to the MOST bus, as I assume most CDR-23's are. But if the head unit is not connected to the MOST bus (my factory config), I don't get how it could either be programmed by a dealer or detect the s/n of the vehicle it is installed in...
  6. Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I'll give it a try. I have a 2003 996 with a CDR-23. It is the base stereo system, no amp, no upgrades. The fiber port on the CDR-23 has nothing connected to it, just a dummy plug in the hole, so obviously in this case the radio isn't communicating with anything over the optical bus, and works fine after power is disconnected. Does this mean that this particular CDR-23 has no security programming requrement? Will all CDR-23's work without a car specific programming as long as it is in stand-alone mode not communicating with anything else on the MOST bus? If this radio was used to replace a CDR-23 on another vehicle that did have a bose amp / MOST bus, would this head unit, which works fine in stand-alone mode, then need dealer reprogramming to work once connected to another vehicles MOST bus? Thanks in advance for any info on this.
