  1. Ok everyone. I only saw one thread about the horn, but I understand from the dealer that this is a common problem in the early cars. My horn doesn't work at all, the button in the wheen is all flattened out. They say I need a new horn ring and to replace both horns, they say the horns probably shorted out when the horn ring collapsed. Anyhoo, it's to the tune of $600 for what they're telling me. It looks like the horn part in the other thread is easy to replace, or that I could do the fix with silicone. How do I pull open the steering wheel? Also, any advice on changing the actual horns would be appreciated (I plan to check this part first, then only change the horns if needed. I bet the fuse is blown, not the horns) Thanks Scott
  2. I just got an email from the guy saying they've sold over 500 of these and have installed over 50 at their shop and they work on all year boxsters. I love the idea, just wanted to see one in action. They're $995 on ebay right now, but I'll keep looking to see if it can be found cheaper. Scott
  3. Todd - how's the swap going? I'm interested in the TPC if you still have it. Heck, I'd be intreested in finding out how screamin' fast your car is when it's done, and what the whole deal ended up costing you. If it's "reasonable", I might consider that route. Scott
  4. Hi again everyone. I hope you're all glad to know that I'm probably keeping my '98 Boxster after finding this group. I was frustrated with the little "nickle and dime" things that kept going wrong with it, and the things that I supposedly couldn't fix myself, but you all have answered so many of my questions and saved me big bucks in the process. Thanks Here's my most current question. As I mentioned before, my car's a '98. It has the crappy CDR210 in it and I really don't like it. Sound quality is mediocre and the front panel moves when I hit the buttons. I've been wondering what to upgrade to. It looks like the trafficpro is the way to go if you can find one. Will it wire right into my car? All of the swaps have been CDR210 to 220 or 220 to trafficpro, I haven't seen anyone jump from the 210 to trafficpro. Also, I'm disappointed with the speaker setup in the car, the 2 door speakers and dash speakers. I see a lot of people mention the rear speakers. Is that an easy upgrade? If I find the bose rear board, what should I look for? Does the system include a sub? FINALLY (for this round of posts). My car has a new top that was put on last year, but with the crappy plastic window. I have to get out when I put the top down because the plastic will pinch whenever it's below 80 degrees outside, marking the window. I found this one on ebay with a glass rear window but I don't understand how it can work and fold down correctly. Does anyone know if this is a decent top to switch to? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-Box...1QQcmdZViewItem I sat in my first 987 the other day and they've fixed all the things I hate about my car (slightly roomier, better legroom, solid rear window, better sound, CUPHOLDERS, much more powerful), but I could buy 3 cars like mine for what they're asking for a new S model, so it'll be a while until I upgrade. I'll stick with trying to make mine into what I want. Scott
  5. ah crap, I missed it!!!! Max - thanks - I'll let ya know if there's anything I need. Tool Pants - thanks yet again. I'll keep an eye open on Ebay, but if anyone else sees one of these, please let me know! Thanks Scott
  6. Thanks everyone, I didn't get it, I thought the additional parts would be a killer for this one. I'll keep an eye open on ebay and I'm sure I'll be asking for some "professional" eyes to look at them. Scott
  7. I'm probably going to get myself in trouble for posting this, but I'm sure that anyone else who would be interested in this supercharger already knows about it. There's currently a TPC supercharger on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...sspagename=WDVW It's not complete - It looks to me like all of the belts, etc. are missing, and most importantly, the computer is missing. Has anyone ordered these parts from TPC? I'm wondering if the supercharger is still a good deal with all the missing things? I've seen others that are complete on Ebay and I'm sure willing to wait for another if you guys don't think this is a good deal. If anyone is an expert on the TPC units, I'm also curious just how much might be missing from this one. Thanks for the help! Scott
  8. Max - I don't know if you still have that used control unit, but mine's gone out and ToolPants directed me here. Does anyone else have one of these units for a '98 Boxster that they'd be willing to sell or anything? Thanks for the help! Scott
