  1. Thanks for the quick reply. RFM seems to be heading in the same direction. The leak seems to originate higher on the engine, as you suggest and then finds it's way over the tail pipe and down. I'll inspect the area more closely and give it a good wipe down to clean off any residue , drive and look for new run off. Time to order a coolant tank (and cap if your cap does not end in 01). Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) has both on sale - Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost $274 for the tank and $12 for the cap. If you decide to tackle this yourself - there is a DIY here. Hi Loren, Thanks again. I hope that's all there is. I've bought from Sunset before and they were good. The link is very helpful, pics worth a 1K words and makes the project look do-able for me.

  3. Left Rear, yes-behind the wheel. Originates above the left tail pipe. I haven't poked up in there to see it more closely. Lately, after reaching operating temp I smell the lovely fragance of burned antifreeze. Seems Loren was leaning towards the coolant tank or W/P. What do you think? Would a closer inspection of the inlet hoses to the tank and wipe down to spot the run off be first steps? If it's the W/P then I guess it's a matter of replacing gaskets and hoses, thermostat, etc., while it's off.
  4. I'm not sure if I'm id'g the problem correctly but at the heart of issue is not having Autotechnik in Pennington, NJ or an independent shop in S.E. PA or Central NJ. A couple months ago I noticed a trail of antifreeze on my garage floor after a drive. Since then the run off of antifreeze has reoccurred pretty consistantly. Any thoughts on a sticking thermostat or bad expansion tank? I've seen the temp light once or twice before in '07 and top it a/f that looked low. My 996 has 27K is generally to spec on maintenance and care. Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated?
  5. I recently joined Renn Tech because of my interest in our toys and the great helpful information I've found on this and other topics here. Regarding the 996 application for the Short-shift being kicked around, I bought mine from Brandwine Porsche, figuring as other do that even if the OEM is the same the slightest chance of the "porsche original" part would be an advantage. Well, I haven't installed it yet and thanks to "ToolPants" I'm reading the B&M link but here's my issue, mine didn't come with "tower" for ez swapping but does have a bag of simple parts that seem to pictured on the B&M site. part # 000-044-700-26 13D, How did you make out with your install? Thanks
