  1. Just to report my fix. Rather than replace i repaired. I cut the pipe on the rh side of wheel well where access is good. Released clamp at top end and removed to bench. Hole was large 5mm diam. Pipe od is 13.3mm. Made repair to holed section by bonding a 15mm od copper pipe cut lengthways using jb weld. Remade connection at cut using a 1/2 inch flex coolant hose with 2 clips each side, clocked slightly to misalign flatspots. Pipe now seems clear of motor but i also clamped a bit of flex hose over bond to protect against contact with motor in future. Had to add back 6l of coolant no issues with simple refill/bleed.
  2. Hi, anybody replaced the coolant vent line (987 106 681 01) in a 987.1 2.7 boxster and has some tips? Mine has been holed by contact with the variocam cover plate (i think), red arrow in picture shows line and location of hole. Maybe i'm being pessimistic but looks like to wriggle it out/in would need to remove main coolant hoses at the front of engine, engine mount, suspension brace, possibly also rusty exhaust. I tried an in-situ fix with epoxy which failed. May also try replacing damaged section with flexible hose. Car is on jack stands. Thanks, Mark
  3. I have a 2005 Boxster 2.7, built around April-May depending on the module dates shown on the Durametric. I bought a stethescope and have started listening to the bearing every once in a while. One wheel on a 2 inch block of wood there is just enough room to reach the casing near the bearing with the tip of the scope. I hear a clean noise like balls going round a race. I'm an engineer, I discussed this with a colleague who worked at SKF. In his opinion the bearing would go bad quite slowly and sound terrible on the scope before it failed. Be interested to hear if others have more practical knowledge on this....
