  1. I found this information but still need some DIY and Pics to go by Common MisdiagnosesComponents such as spark plug tube seals and grommets can also leak oil, which can be mistaken for a leaking valve cover gasket. The seals and the valve cover gasket should always be replaced together. Best PracticesUsing high-quality valve cover gaskets will reduce the chance of recurring leaks and additional repairs. When replacing the valve cover gasket, we recommend having a valve adjustment performed, if applicable. Since the valve cover is removed to adjust the valves, this will save in labor costs. Common SymptomsValve cover gaskets need to be replaced when they begin to leak oil. They can damage other engine components, especially belts and hoses. Oil leaking from valve cover gaskets can result in a burning smell coming from under the hood.
  2. Was told by my local Porsche Independent mechanic that my Valve Cover had a slight oil leak (right Valve Cover (passenger or Driver side?) I don't see any signs of a leak nor have I seen any right ups or DIY on the repair of a valve cover on a 2004 Cayenne S V8. So it doesn't sound too common an issue with the Cayenne? Does anyone have any pics, DIY, Video or right up on the procedures to repair a leaking valve cover. I would assume it would be to replace the valve seal "gasket" that goes around the cover but would like to see a write up, pictures, torque specs etc on the repair. It is interesting that I see THREE different Valve cover gaskets, ONE for cylinders 1 -4 TWO for cylinders 5 - 8 and THREE and "OEM" possible for V6 http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/955C/POR_955C_ENGcyl_pg1.htm Thank you
  3. I was told by local Porsche Facility "Master" tech that some drop in idle is normal when coming to a stop. I previously had the idling and cranking issue with the P0441 and replaced the Purge Valve for Fuel Vapor Canister part 948-110-202-01 No more CEL and Idle is fine and stable except for when coming to a stop when the idle slightly dips for a quick second. Not sure if this is caused by my previous issue or not. Also, every once and a while still notice a strange, longer than normal start up crank.. but again no CEL or codes to report.
  4. Thanks to Mudman2, Ciaka and Loren for your excellent write up and suggestions! Cayenne is purring like a pig!
  5. So I can officially say I replaced the Purge Valve for Fuel Vapor Canister part 948-110-202-01. Total PIA (IMHO) and hope to never have to do that one again. So when firing up after replacement, got a PSM Failure Workshop message on dash along with the Yellow Hazard Sign with the (!) Scanned codes, old DTC P0441 showed up (of course) and NEW "pending" DTC P2138 I turned off engine and restarted, PSM error and hazard light went away, rescanned and NO pending Codes now!. Went ahead and cleared the original DTC P0441 and gave it a drive around the city. so far so good.. Ugh! FYI - DTC P2138 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "D" / "E" Voltage Correlation Diagnostic conditions Engine runningPossible cause of fault Short circuit to B+ in wiring harness Short circuit to ground in wiring harness Open circuit in wiring harness Throttle adjusting unit (position sensor 1 or 2) faulty DME control module faulty NOTE: This fault is always recorded along with another throttle fault.
  6. Hi Loren, thanks for condensing my post I've purchased and in the process of replacing the Purge Valve for Fuel Vapor Canister part 948-110-202-01 Since I'm experiencing longer the normal crank time as well as issues not starting up after gas fill, the Purge Valve was suggested to be replaced. So I guess start there and see if that hopefully resolves the P0507 (it "should" at least take care of P0441)
  7. "pending" code P0507 (Idle Air Control System RPM hight than expected) I Should also add that I have a P0441 Code as well.. Not sure if they are related.
