  1. Geoff,

I have available a clutch assy from my GT3, DMF w/ring gear, friction plate, release bearing, guide tube and pressure plate (GT3 RS). Items have less than 5k mi, no track just around town driving. These items were removed by the dealer looking for a noise, as it turns out this didn't have anything to do with the noise issue. So I now have these almost new extra parts available. Please let me know if interested.

  2. I've located the"telephone connector" below the cd storage. The colors are red/green, black/green, yellow, and brown. I need power for additional gauge illumination, wondering which 2 wires should be used for this purpose. Is one of them a ground or do I need to make my own ground connection? Also which would be best choice for power (12vdc)? TIA

  3. Are you talking about using the RoW 993 RS motor mounts on a GT3 (mk2)?

If so, you will need longer bolts and the parts below:

    993rs_motor_mounts.pdf

There was a performance package offered, X73 and X74 which consisted of a stiffer motor mount along with performance and suspension upgrades. These mounts, stiffness wise, fall in between the ROW 993RS mounts and the standard 996 mounts. The problem being my '04 gt3 has 993.375.049.06 series mounts which I believe are the standard 996 mounts and according to the PET I should have 996.375.049.90. I'm not sure why there there is a discrepancy.

What I'm looking for, are the mounts that would be used with the X package upgrades. It may very well be that 996 number but I have no way of knowing. Porsche has so many mounts and different types it's hard to know what is really required. Some use the same P/N but have a painted color code to identify them. The more I learn the more confusing this whole thing becomes.

    TIA

  4. I have the opportuntiy to pick up a used LSD from a GT3 that was upgraded to an RSR diff. I know that the Quaiffe differential will work in both transmissions, but I don't know if a GT3 OEM diff can work in a regular 996 Carrera M96/30 transmission? Anyone know the answer?

    Thx

Really don't think so. Completely diferent mounting. I'd be sure before spending any money.

  5. So out of all these members no one in this forum has a wish list of after market parts they want for there 996

    OK, if you insist.

    LWFW

    lighter, louder exhaust

upgrade to two piece floating rotors and race pads

    Lighter wheels

    sticky tires

    Race cats

    Change diff to 1:4.00

loose some of the suspension rubber

    stiffer motor mounts

    Alcantara steering wheel

    Roll bar

    5/6 pt Harness

    CF front hood

    loose back seat

    Adjustable Shock upgrade

sway bar heim jt. drop links

and last but not least, a passenger air sick bag for the glove box.

But seriously, I could think of many other options but once I start thinking that way. I get too tempted to make more changes of my own. So I'll let others have a shot at additional money you can spend. I'm guessing but this list would come to somewhere around 20K.

  6. Let me be the first to offer this option, the best way to make your car go fast is to learn how to drive it that way. De's and instruction are invaluable in learing this. In my opinion this is money extremely well spent. Untill you can drive the car faster than it can currently go, additional mods are just a hobby and really you won't see much benifit from them.

That being said, the least expensive way to improve performance is in weight reduction. The lighter you can make the car the more responsive it becomes. In some cases it can make a dramatic difference. Examples, lighter and relocated battery, lighter wheels, loose the spare, etc. Use your imagination, LBS = HP.

    Best of luck and enjoy.

  7. I just bead blasted the heads of my rusty wheel bolts, and now find myself wondering what paint to use on them. Was planning to use any old silver spray paint.

    Any tips?

    Bill

Your gereric silver paint will work to a great extent but will need some attention on occasion. There is epoxy based spray paint available which might prove a bit more durable for a few pennies more than the regular paint. But either one will do the job. Big thing is to make sure the surfaces are clean and oil free, for obvious reasons. Actually I wire brushed and just clear coated mine, no silver, looks great.

  8. Wondering if the time duration is programmable as to the length of time the lighting is illuminated when the engine and luggage doors are left open. It would be nice to have the lights go off after a set short period of time (5 min.), for like car shows etc. when the doors are left open for what could be hours at a time.

  9. I have an '04 GT3, Has anyone removed the carpeting and tools etc. from the front compartment and relocated the battery to the floor? Wondering if it's just the obvious or there are any tricks to doing this. Also any pics would be appreciated. Saw some cup cars at the Glen, should have taken some pics then. Tnx

Also, Anyone have the paint code for the interior white paint?

  10. I have over the course of time (winter), coated my headers. I did take them to Swain Tech. and they did their usual superlative job. They are now back on the car and are performing as designed, as far as I can tell.
