In addition to the above, I would fill the tank with higher octane petrol (Shell Racing 100, for instance) in order to rule out (or in) that the slapping/knocking sound you heard was engine knock arising from too low an octane for that turbo engine.
What octane is recommended for your car ?

I wouldn't be unduly alarmed, but I would dissect the oil filter to see what, if any, particles have been trapped.

Hi.
The latest version is 6.5.1.9.
I'm no expert, but if you've drained the system of brake fluid, I believe that you'll need to activate the ABS module.
Maybe an e-mail to Durametric, although the matrix on their website shows the ABS module on the 996 being able to be activated with their system.

The Durametric should activate the ABS module for bleeding purposes.
Have you the latest Durametric software ?

The only advice that I can give is to be sure that the pump that was in the car and which is now broken was the correct one, i.e. not replacing the wrong spec pump with the same wrong spec pump !

Hi. I believe that hooking up a Durametric to your car and providing the fault codes would be the most appropriate and economical first step in resolving the problem with your car.
I am shooting in the dark but my point is to diagnose the problem properly before starting to madly exchange parts.

If the part number on your coolant reservoir cap does not end in 04, then replacing it with one that does might be a start to narrowing down the problem.

Odd.
I have a 2003 2.7 without electric seat adjustment. I've just been out to look and I also have E3 & E4 30 amp fuses.
Like Hilux2400, I don't have an answer but assume the cabling for electrically operated seats is part of the loom installed on all 986s.
E3 is for the driver's seat, I believe, and it may be an idea to have a close look under that seat to see if the connectors on the end of the cables are fixed in the same manner as those under the passenger seat.

Is it all factory-built spec or could a previous owner have installed something wired to E3 ?

I've found that owning a Durametric is the second best investment to owning the car itself. It certainly avoids a great deal of inconvenience and potentially expensive guess work. There was a used one for sale on here a couple of weeks ago IIRC.
It might be an idea.

380,000 Kms ! It's certainly done its service.
Apart from the battery, I'd feel around for any and all dampness inside the vehicle. Relays ? It surely can't be a coincidence that the problems have started immediately after washing the vehicle.

Despite the low mileage, I'd also check the integrity of the cable between your battery and starter motor.

Unless you've previously hit something, it's odds-on that the wheels are still not properly balanced.

You'd be most unwise to continue driving the car until the problem is fixed IMO. Coolant loss in sufficient quantity (from whatever source) will eventually damage your engine.

I had that with the knobs on the radio. That was when the car was in the baking temperatures of the Middle East.
A sprinkling of non-perfumed talcum powder did it for me.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I have had the same problem for several years now. However, it's on the passenger door which still has the original regulator.
I've got used to manually dropping the window a little, but it's a pain.
Microswitch, I wonder ?
If you find the fix, hope you'll enlighten me.

Have you tried 'window to the top - hold switch for additional 10 seconds' .... 'window to the bottom - hold switch for additional 10 seconds' ?
Other than that, on the 986 there are adjustment bolts accessible from the bottom of the driver's door.

How old is your battery, and which brand is it?
When you say that the car won't start, is there no response from the starter at all, or is the response very weak?

Excessive smoke. P1145. MAF ? A forum search will describe the symptoms ...... and the cure.
Maybe that's the first thing to check.
Given that 95 octane is permissible, I wouldn't drain the tank but would add 98 octane .... not 100.
