  1. Jinster and Mike have confirmed everything I have read. I've only owned my 99 2.5 Boxster for 5 weeks. One of the first things I thought of, was having the ECU re-mapped and looking at new exhaust systems. But as I always do before I buy anything. Is, research, research and then research some more. What I found was. Unless you do other performance upgrades that necessitate the aforementioned upgrades. There is no point. Randy
  2. Thanks for the tips, Chris and Paul. Just about have my garage cleaned out enough where I can get it in there this weekend and start fixing some small things. This is my first Porsche since my 944 in 2000. A whole different animal than that and still feeling it out. Thanks again, Randy
  3. My interior overhead light in my 1999 Boxster seems to be possessed. It's intermittent and as luck would have it. That means it doesn't usually work at night, when it is needed most. It doesn't matter which door is opened. Sometimes it comes on and sometimes not. Also when it does come on. When you close the door. It's like turning down a dimmer switch to the off position. So before I start ordering parts. Like a new overhead light assembly. Thought I would check with you gentleman to see if you have encountered this problem. Thanks for your thoughts in advance. Randy
  4. Hi, My name is Randy and joined this forum just a couple of days ago as you can see. excellent forum. :renntech: I just pruchased a 1999 Boxster on Christmas eve. Merry Christmas to me. I bcame a member of the 100K club the day I bought it. It had 104,500 on it. It has some minor issues that I will be addressing as time passes. I used to build scale R/C planes. But after 18 years of continuous building. I became burnt out. The Boxster is going to be the replacement hobby and I will be working on it a little every weekend until I get it up to an acceptable level to me. I used to own a 1986 944 and have wanted to get another Porsche for sometime. :drive: Randy
  5. Thank you very much Loen. That was very, very helpful. What a wonderful site :thankyou:
  6. I just recently purchased a 1999 Boxster. As of 12/24/2010. Merry Christmas to me! I live in Albuquerque and over the New Years weekend. The temps dropped to 7 degrees. I went to drive it on New Years day and the brakes were not good. The peddle didn't move much and it slowed down at a roll to a stop, rather than stopping. My first thought was, moisture in the lines that froze. Had the system flushed and it was fine the night I had that done four days later, and until last night, when the temps, once again dropped to below 20 degrees. They went back to the mushy not stopping feeling. Before last night the temps had been hoovering above 20 or so. Thanks for you thoughts in advance, Randy
