The triggering of the belt tensioner during a frontal collision takes place together with the triggering of the front airbags.

These pyrotechnic belt tensioners fire once and then have to be replaced (just like the airbags) - they have been used since the 2002 model year.

Do I need to replace the complete belts, or just the pyro tensioners alone?

I am repairing my 2005 997, both airbags were deployed, but both front seatbelts seemed fine until I made check with Durametric. It says "both front seatbelt tensioners exceeded the upper limit" !!?? Does this mean I will have to replace both front seatbelts or is there another, cheaper way to get it done? Both seatbelts move normally in and out of their compartments.

I am not sure you can do that with Durametric. Where are you located?

i tried to initialize steering sensor with durametric, but nothing really happened.
