  1. I bought a 2.5 years ago with nothing but pooh dash speakers and a cdr22 (at least I had a 6 disc changer!) anyways, I invested in 6 rainbow speakers including some 6.5" for the doors. That involved a lot of work and it cost over £300 just to have wires run through to the doors. I made the baffle plates myself using this website www.carltonbale.com/cars/porsche-boxster/porsche-boxster-audio-upgrade Finally I got myself a cable to tap into the pre-outs (not the speaker outs unless you want 2nd rate sound) and bought myself a decent hertz amp to drive the component speakers. All in all, it was a lot of hard work and expense of nearly £1k. A decent 6 speaker set up and squeezing in 6.5's alleviated the bass lack. It's not mega bass by any means but it sounds crisp, clear and loud enough for high speed with the hood down. IMHO bass is the first thing you loose at high speed and, & car hi-fi is a bit pointless really cause you'll never match the quality of a decent set-up at home. make a careful choice - is the effort worth the outcome? dunno is the answer, so I never bothered and I've been happy with what I've got. One thing I would say - avoid factory fitted bose solutions - especially ones in facelift (03) onwards boxsters. MOST connections make them hard to upgrade and they sound pants if you ask me. The cdr22 is better than the cdr23 IMHO good luck!
