  1. thanks logray, i had the battery clamp, i slid the battery all the way to the right, and the other hole was there. Took 2 minutes. thanks
  2. I'm looking to do the same very soon. I have an 01 996. i was actually leaning toward Fabspeed. High quality and bolts right onto the car. i'll keep watching this thread for comments.
  3. I got the car to start, and drove it for 30 mins, once i returned home, i turned off and the car would not start again. I removed the battery and placed it back on the charger. W/ the battery charged to 100% i took it to a local Autozone. The said the battery was charged but displayed "bad battery" and it was likely a bad cell. I replaced it w/ Duralast Gold H6-DLG, the car started right up, no issues. So thanks to all for contributing i was lucky that it appears it was only the batttey. I am a little concened that the replacement battery is not the same length and it has about 3 inches that it could slide to the right, in hard cornering. I do some local PCA autocross events in the summer, but i'm an amateur at best not hard core. Should i return the battery and replace it w/ a Porsche OEM battery? or is the liklihood that it will slide and get dislodged unlikely. Your feedback is appreciated.
  4. I got the car to start after placing it back onto the charger...I let it run for 5 mins. I've placed it in trickle charge mode and the battery shows 95%. I am going to test this again in a few days. I'll let u know what occurs.
  5. I have had my car stored over the winter on a charger which shows battery at 100%. I went to start the car just to turn it over and i got nothing buit a fast clicking noise. All of the lights come on nice and bright, but the engine is not turning over. Ideas anyone???
  6. i took the car to a local porsche only shop. It turns out all 4 wheels were out of balance, and all 4 tires have flat spots. They balanced the wheels as best they could and the vibration at high speeds has gone. What i did notice wa a slight vibration at lower speeds 30-40 mph. once i replace all 4 tires and balance i'm sure this will be resolved. At least i know the cause was bad tires
  7. 2001 996 Carrera Cab, 6 speed manual trans. The car has 20k miles on it but the tires are old, based off the tire code i think they are ~7 yrs old. The previous owner barely drove the car. They have a little tread left on them, but could really use new tires, i am trying to nurse them thru one more summer as this is a dry weather summer car only. At highway speeds on smooth roads i notice a vibration in the steering wheel and seat, from ~70 -84 mph over 84 it seems to smooth out again. From 70 up it starts out slight and then gets worse until i can feel the vibration in the seat. Is this a mechanical issue or tire/balancing issue?
  8. My washer fluid light came on and i topped it up w/ fluid. I noticed that a lot of it ran onto the floor by the front tire. Question - I don't think that would be normal? Do i have a bad seal or cracked resevoir? Any advice on how to resolve?
  9. The radio serial number the unit displays is the correct radio serial number. Likely your radio was replaced and they kept the old card. Try 8764 thanks so much for your assistance, that resolved the issue
  10. 2000 996 CDR 220 Ser # 15050187 Radio code 7108 I don't feel the above code is correct as i have to enter it 3 times, and then it goes into wait mode, and then resets back to wanting the code. what is odd is i have the factory radio code card and t says the SN # is BE 4462 Y 5037949 which is different from the above, when i hold the TP button in. Thanks for the help in advance.
