  1. Thanks Phillip. I am rather new to this forum and still learning the in's and out's of it. In some ways, it is a little more "involved" than the 356 Registry i use more frequently. I'll try to spend a little more time on it though and get more familiar with it, the contents and what it has to offer. Thanks for the link too. Tony
  2. I did try a search and, am aware of the IMS issues. I guess I didn't search using the right word or words though as I was trying to find info related to this new device, if anyone had by chance installed it and opinions on its functionality if they had put it in. Guess I didn't phrase my question correctly the first time.
  3. Thanks for the input gentlemen. I did install one of L&N's magnetic drain plugs and during oil changes, cut open my used oil filter to see what it might contain. I also don't follow the factory suggested oil change interval but change mine more frequently. Tony
  4. http://www.rabyenginedevelopment.com/IMS_GUARDIAN.html Hope i am not creating a lot of controversy on this subject but I'd be interested in an opinion or two on the item in this link that I've included. Is it correct that potential failures were/are more common in earlier 997's (05 to 08)? And, I have an 08 C2S with no known problems that runs great. Tony
  5. As additional info, I found out the company is located in the UK and they are called Zunsport. The grilles attach from the front therefore no need to remove the bumper. Tony
  6. Have a 2008 C2S and would like to know sources for black front wire mesh grilles. Saw some today and the car had them covering not only the radiator openings on each side but also the center section. If anyone has them, does the front bumper or any part/s underneath the front stock bumper have to be removed in order to install them. Thanks in advance. Tony
  7. Has anyone ever exchanged out the H-8 clear bulb for an amber/yellow H-8 bulb? If so, which manufacturer? Thanks, Tony
  8. Thanks Loren. I wish i had your invaluable knowledge about these cars :) Tony
  9. have a 2008 C2S and don't have my owners manual handy but is the replacement foglight bulb an H8? Thanks in advance. Tony
  10. P.S. If you'd like to buy my extra tips off of my 08S, I will sell them to you for $75 less shipping, Interested, send me a PM to taguirre@cityofpasadena.net Tony
  11. What I did on my 08 S was buy an extra set thru one of the auto dismantlers, took mine off and had a chrome shop here in LA polish them for $100. They are a T-6 stainless steel that can be polished to look like chrome. Very happy I did that instead of buying some of the expensive chrome tips out there. The dealer even complimented me on the look when I had it in for service. Tony
  12. phillipj I work in Pasadena, CA and was wondering if you could PM me the mobile wheel service guy's info. While I don't have curb rash, i have noticed that my 19" wheels have some dings on them as if it is almost from road pebbles. I might want to repaint them the "original" silver at some point. Thx, taguirre@cityofpasadena.net
  13. Thanks for the great insight Jay. I will check out the used muffler route in the new year. Safe and happy holiday to all. Tony
  14. Thanks for the PM wacole. Maybe after I accumulate the parts I should take a drive up north, visit my daughter in S.F. and have the same shop install mine:-)
  15. Congratulations wacole. I've been considering the same for my 08C2S. I am curious what this package ran you and where you got the PSE. If you don't want to post the answer on the forum, would you mind sending me a private post to taguirre@cityofpasadena.net Thx Tony
  16. Thanks for the info Doug. I fellow Porsche guy at work callet ROTtec and it seems that they also have or will have the rear taillight assembly update too (could be mistaken but I think he said it was them).
  17. Instead of over flowing, has anyone experienced a problem while trying to get a full tank of gas? Regardless of how much I need to put in, the handle will automatically click "off" before completely filling my tank. I've tried different stations here in California and usually get the same results. I'll get 7/8 at best. Maybe my problem is also a defective fuel fill neck on the car like WTL sites above? Not a big issue, just annoying...
  18. Tekky, if you don't mind, where'd you get your PSE for a "fair price". I've been thinking about putting one my my 08 S too. Did you install everything yourself? Tony
  19. My guess on the CD question is that the 6 CD changer was an option. If you did not buy this as an option then you only have the one slot about the radio to still play them individually. Not sure if this is answering your question though.
  20. Here is what I discovered while playing around with my system. Radio/CD can easily be silenced by simply pushing the audio button and then scrolling down to "mute" at the bottom righthand side. Then push the Nav" button and once "activated" and directions input, you will have only the "nav" voice. You can mute AM, FM or CD (whichever one is playing at the time). Or, you can adjust the radio/CD/Nav volume when you are in the "nav"mode. You simply push the "set" button (while in nav mode) and then select either "audio" or "fixed volume" and adjust accordingly based on personal preference. Hope this helps.... Tony
  21. I am fairly new to the 997 world but sounds like a defect to me. At first i thought it might be a clear lense protector delamination issue but it doesn't sound like it. Unfortunately the lense cannot be replaced w/o replacing the whole headlight assembly and that's rather pricey even for used units on E-bay and other sights. Be curious to see if anyone else has this same issue. I put a clear bra on my car along with covering the headlight lenses. Hopefully the film on my headlight will help eliminate the delamination issue if that is in fact what it is.
