  1. I did a lot of research on the 20" staggered rims and the tires that fit them and just wanted to get some information about this in the forums. My goal was for the tires to be a little bigger in diameter than stock. I've always felt the 20" stock tires leave too much wheel well exposed. Seems everyone is going with either 275/40r20 all around, or 275/40r20 in front and 315/35r20 in the rear, or the slightly larger 295/40r20s all around. I decided to try 275/45r20s in the front and 295/45r20s in the rear. It's great!!! It fills the wheel wells better and is wider, 0.8", and a little taller, 0.7", in the rear than in the front. It's the best fit for the rims and the best look for my taste. I also consulted my local Porsche dealership and the mechanics told me the difference in diameter would not be an issue as long as they were not on the same axle. So, in summary the 275/45r20s front and 295/45r20s fit great but they are not listed as a compatible size. I'm not sure if I know how to post a picture, guess I'll find out when I press "Post".
  2. Hi All, I figured it out by taking it to my friendly Porsche dealer and having them show me. It just takes more strength than I felt comfortable with to close the side latches. Now that I've done it, using ape strength, a few times it's easy... I wish they made the side latches out of aluminum instead of plastic. BTW, the first thing I noticed when I got these on is the whistling wind noise. I fixed this, well 98% of it, by using flexible small vacuum hoses, cutting them length wise, then glueing them to all the end surfaces. Works great, looks great, and I only needed to do it to the front rack. Thanks, Doug.
  3. Yes, I'm talking about the root transport system. These are the cross bars which run side-to-side across the vehicle roof. Thanks, Doug.
  4. Please help, I'm having the same issue. I have a 2005 Cayenne S and ordered part # 955-044-000-72 along with the ski carrier. When the rack is off the car I have no trouble pressing down the rear latch and closing the rail ends but when it's on the car, in any of the notched positions. I'm unable to press the latch all the way down and have the situation where I feel if I put anymore strength into closing the rail end I will break it. The rack slides smoothly in the rails and seems as though it should work. I'm afraid to put more strength into closing the side rail so the rails sit for now until someone tells me to use ape strength or I'm doing something wrong. BTW: my rails do not have the vR, mL, hL on them, only a picture of the vehicle side view which leads me to believe the front of the image of the vehicle should go toward the front of the actual vehicle. Thanks for any help, Doug.
  5. Hi, I just bought my first Porsche, a 2005 Cayenne S. I love this SUV on the highway but I'm concerned about the lack of smoothness in the automatic transmission around town. While I was test driving it I called up the local Porsche service center, where all the repairs/maint. on this specific SUV has been done since new, and they told me this is normal along with a slightly rough idle. They also verified this car has all the recalls and updates. My wife is calling the transmission "jumpy"... I've also had it kickdown rather hard several times after I brake lightly from about 40mph to 30mph then get lightly back on the gas. Am I just getting use to something other owners consider normal? Another question about the locking differentials. My Cayenne has the three LED offroad lights in the center console: low, center diff lock and rear diff lock. Does this mean it has a rear diff lock? I ask because I can't seem to get the third light to come on. Thanks for any advice or reassurance, dervin1968
