Thanks for all your help Loren...
  2. I just purchased a C4S/Turbo bumper for my '02 C2. However I noticed that the bumper sticks out about half an inch to three quarters of an inch from where the original bumper sits on the car. Anyone know of any remedies for this? I've already figured out a solution for fitting the front turbo bumper. I created three aluminum extension to hold the bumper to the under side of the car. Thanks.
  3. The ride quality is the same as on the OE tires. I have not noticed any difference yet as I just had them installed last Friday (11/25/2005). I will take a drive through the canyons (twisties) this weekend. Although the Sumitomos do seem a little louder at low speeds. I did hear somewhere that they do get quieter once they wear a little. I still can't believe the price! Amazaing. I also found out from the installer at Westside Tires that Sumitomo tires is what Beverly Hills Porsche purchases for all their CPO vehicles.
  4. Yes,that looks like what I wanted to know--Thanks! Loren, any idea on the cost of the system? I might want to do it eventually.
  5. Through who? Tirerack? No, through Westside Tires in Culver City, California. This is a wholesale price through a friend that owns a body shop. If you need, maybe I can get you the same price. Let me know.
  6. Actually they do make a 285/30/18, which is the rear tire size I will be purchasing. I still cannot believe I am getting 4 tires, installed and balanced for $590.00 total, what a deal.
  7. Thanks for the info Shawn. I checked pricing on the Yokohamas and their up there with the Mitchellins, etc. I think I'll give these a try.
  8. Anyone have any good experience with Sumitomos? I can get all four tires for my 02 C for under $650 Please let me know.
  9. I too am in a similar situation. However, my project is purely recreational. I want to create a Porsche 3.6L replica entirely out of wood. I will then paint all the parts in order to make it look authentic. I will then mount a glass top on it and use it as a focal point in my living room. Think of it as a coffee table for a true Porsche enthusiast! Anyone have any technical drawings? ? Please email me a copy @ gabrielpaz@yahoo.com In exchange, I can send out a picture of the finished project.
  10. Wow, that is a tight fit. My suggestion would be to take the car to a good body shop. There they should be able to trim a bit of the bumper for the muffler opennings. If you are tactile, detail oriented, good with precision you can give it a shot with a dremel, a fine file, and sand paper.
  11. Before my 996, I owned an Acura CL Type "S". I did the K&N swap on this car. I did not notice/feel any HP gains. However, I did notice that my oil got dirty much much faster. The positive is a few more mainly unnoticeable horses. The negative is that more dirt particles are allowed to pass through the filter. Hence more contamination within the throttle body, intake manifold, cylinder sleeves, and eventually within the oil itself. I weighed everything out and decided to go back to the stock filter because I did not want to prematurely wear the engine.
  12. 996Carrera. Thank you for the link. That explains all the questions I originally had, including the hand make extension brackets. Now, I just need to find out more informaiton on the rear bumper.
  13. 996Carrera. Thank you for the information. I guess I will have to purchase these parts. What about the front bumper lip, the part the goes on the very bottom of the bumber? Did this part fit perfectly (I will buy along with the other parts)? Any information you can share on the rear bumper? I know I will have to reroute the tips, as the openning on the turbo bumper are closer together. Do you have any pictures of your car? Thank again. This is very valuable information. I am thinking of putting together some pictures of the istall in order to post on this site.
  14. I purchased front and rear factory turbo bumpers for my '02 C2. My buddy who owns a body shop will do the final install, pain, etc. I removed the front bumper this weekend and noticed two things: 1. the bottom three holes where the bumper is bolted to the bottom of the vehicle do not match the pattern on the turbo bumper. 2. There is no indentures on the turbo bumpers to place the plastic headlight brow the sits below the headlights assembly and the top of the bumper. This is visible on the original bumper but not on the turbo bumper. Does anyone have any personal experience installing turbo bumpers on a '02 C2? Any light shed on the situation would be greatly appreciated. :D
  15. They are both factory bumpers (remanufactured) Why remanufactured? Because I got them for $300.00 each through my friend that owns a body shop. Please read my new thread today (10-10-2005)
  16. Oh, found it Loren. Thanks, it did not dawn on me to look under third radiator install.
  17. I have a 2002 C2. I recently purchased turbo bumpers to upgrade the look of the car. Before I take the car into the shop for paint, I want to install the bumpers to ensure proper fit, and also to take pictures. Does anyone know where I can find DIY instructions on how to remove and install the bumpers of my car?
  18. Please, please, please pay to have a Porsche dealer conduct the pre-purchase inspection. THIS IS A MUST ! ! ! If you still need to know why ask me.
  19. Please post the part number for the revised seal so that I may compare with the dealer. Yes, I think my service advisor mentioned one week just to keep me from getting depressed.
  20. I've had my car in the dealer for possible RMS replacement since last Tuesday (9/20/2005). I've just heard from my service advisor today @ Beverly Hills Porsche that Porsche has placed a hold on all RMS replacements until the dealer has the revised RMS. At my local dealer that will be next week. If your car requires an RMS, please wait until your dealer has the revised RMS. Hopefully this will be a permanent fix. Let's keep our fingers crossed :D FYI I own a 2002 Porsche Carrera with now 43K miles. Yes, I knew about the RMS before I purchased the car.
