  1. is it safe to assume that this is not a critical part and won't cause further damage if not replaced right away?
  2. ok, replaced all plugs and coil packs but cylinder 1 misfire (p0301) still happens only when it rains a lot. is there anything else that would throw that error when something gets wet? the car runs great and sounds great, even when the CEL gets triggered. The CEL error is more of an annoyance than a problem.
  3. there should be instructions in the manual on how to manually retract the roll bar.
  4. what is the biggest and most important thing to do at 60k? I inquired with the dealer here and was quoted a price of $1800 and was wondering if it's the labor that's the killer.
  5. in my other manual tranny car that experienced a high pitched whine that goes away with acceleration ended up being the throwout bearing.
  6. as a 911 newbie myself, i would also like to know what other north easterners do in the winter months...
  7. folks here from north jersey seem to like and recommend powertech in rockaway. I'll use them when the time comes. Unfortunately, I had to go to a dealer to order an extra key.
  8. I did. I assume you got the same generic "we're working on it" answer with no definite timeframe on when it will be available. :-)
  9. if only you could get durametric to make a native OSX version, i'd be all over it!
  10. if you need to reset the airbag light, you might need a Porsche specific reader/software like durametric, PIWIS or PST2. If you get durametric, you'll need to run it under emulation or bootcamp.
  11. i looked into it and saw that some of the reviews were not that good. As a mac user, i ended up getting movi by yhasi and am very happy with it.
  12. Thanks again! you've been great and this site is awesome! It made me want to donate! keep up the great work!
  13. 2003 carrera 4. the interior i think is lite gray. here's my link http://www.megapathdsl.net/~tommy3rd/Porsche/#IMG_0069.JPG
  14. my son must have kicked it getting out. is this a user replaceable part?
  15. the only CEL i got was a misfire on cylinder 1 (P0301) when it rained here for a week. when things dried and I cleared the error, the error hasn't returned. i wasn't concerned when it happened because the engine still sounded normal.
  16. I recently bought this 2003 C4 cabriolet with 52k miles. When I test drove it, everything sounded great, it ran great, and the whole car looked good. I checked the oil for any milky looking stuff, checked the battery, and coolant color and level. According to a couple friends, I seem to have gotten this car for a very cheap price ($33k), almost "too good to be true". It still runs great and the engine sounds great, however it has not been inspected for emissions (waiting on registration). I was wondering if I'll have trouble passing inspection. here are the results of a live scan i did while running idle using some OBD scanning software. are any of these values something I should worry about? Will it pass emission standards as long as they see no trouble codes?
  17. i use turtle wax ice. it's a one step wash and polish.
  18. Yes, perhaps if you use the proper one. Would the charger/maintainer being sold on the renntech amazon store do what he wants to do?
  19. i believe you clamp the positive wire to that thing you pulled out. at least that's what it looks like in the manual
  20. Loren, Do you recommed this software over others, such as http://www.scantool.net/ http://www.autoenginuity.com/ http://www.obd-2.com/ http://www.digimoto.com/ Thanks! Any update on this? Update on which part please... I think he wants to know if any of the other OBD scanners and software "good enough" to use, without having to spend close to $300 for Durametric. I also haven't decided whether to spend money on something I can only use on a Porsche or get something cheaper that will work with other cars as well.
  21. bought my first one a week ago at the young age of 39. heh. It's a MY03.
