Please can someone help. I have a 2000 996 3.4l Carrera cabrio and have tried to resolve a convertible top problem with a V6 Durametric tester. The tester is reporting a unrecognised error code 16 for the cabrio top module which I cannot find anywhere. This error will not clear. The top opens up to the service position and goes no further, but will close again. If I ask the Durametric to calibrate the roof, nothing happens. Any advice would be welcome.
This happend to mine, snapped the drive mechanism. Replaced that, now OPC telling me the potentiometer is faulty (on the drive motor). I susperct it needs setting to 6.2kohms and the roof calibrating, seemed like a step to far for the OPC. Managed to survive with an hours bill (£125) so don't know what to do now, I will try and get a motor with potentiometer attached from a breaker and replace, but don't really want to donate another £125 for them to look baffled again and not fix. Thought they were the experts, why do they expect to get paid if they don't fix it !!!!! Regards garry
Hi, Can anyone tell me what the part number of the hose identified in this picture as it has sprung a leak (hence the repair tape , ) I can't find it in PET? Where does the other end go and is it eaily replaced without removing the engine? Was thinking about splicing Thanks Garry
gazzer1 replied to MikeH2's topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)Hi, I have a leak from the pipe that joins at clamp 22, and as you said its not on the diagram. Has anyone any idea what the part number for this pipe is, it runs op and over the top of the engine to the front, looks like a pita to replace? Thinking of cutting and joining with an insert and two jubilee clips. Part number would be a good start though if anyone knows it (diagram and number would help), Thanks garry
gazzer1 posted a topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)I've just replaced the lid drive mechanism (as the cable had snapped on one side), everything seems to work normally now except the roof won't open fully. It gets to 90 degrees and stops, ther front latch retracts and all stops. I've tried to set the potentiometer on the lid drive motor (6.2kohms) etc. but can't get it to open. Closes fine. I had to wind the side covers open with the emergency release allen key, so wondering if I need to do anything with them. I suspect I need to visit a OPC to have it calibrated, a bit frustrating really as everything was working fine until the cable snapped. Does anyone know what I may have done wrong?
