  3. I'm looking to replace the dash speakers in my 2000 base Boxster. It came equipped with the basic stereo system and now the mid-range speakers in the dash are blown out. I hear people have replaced with aftermarket speakers. Where can I get these and how much do they cost? Regards, Scott

  6. Did you ever fix the problem? Im having the same issues.
  7. That's great feedback! Thank you! Where did you get the new toe control arms if you don't mind me asking?
  8. So what was the root cause for toe being out of spec? I recently replaced a half axle and now my alignment is out. Two different shops could not dial in the toe. Regards, Scott
  9. Ok I got the new axle installed. Used lock tight and torqued to spec. I threw out the alignment in the process by loosening the lower control arm. Took it to Stuttgart Southwest to get alignment dialed in. She's back on the road! To think all this was started by someone trying to save a buck on cheap tires. This ended up being a costly fiasco! Scott
  10. I was not wise. Next time I will write it down. Thanks Loren! Scott
  11. I lost my wheel lock. How do I get a replacement?
  12. Does anyone know of a good alignment shop in the Phoenix area? Regards, Scott
  13. I installed this mount the other day on my 2000 base Boxster with manual. I had that nasty vibration at 3K RPM prior along with a loud clunk while shifting. After installing this it made a big difference in the car. The vibration is slightly there but I understand that all engines have a harmonic a certain RPM. So the mount has deadened the vibration severely. And there is no more clunk. Installation was a little tough me not having a press. I used a vice to get the job done. I now understand Napa will press a part for couple bucks. If I knew that earlier I would have taken that route. Regards, Scott
  14. I contacted Sunset and they're saying that part number is only a blank and cost $3. Any other part numbers? Regards, Scott
  15. I know the previous owner replaced the rear wheel bearings. He only had the car for about three months. He purchased it from a neighbor. He replaced the bearings because he thought they were the source of a noise/whine while at speed. Turned out it was crap tires the previous owner had put on. Then he put a set Michelins Pilot Sports and the problem went away. So now I have a little dilemma. The end of the axle where the CV is has a damaged disk/bowl from the blow out/separation while at speed. Its leaking grease. The dealer is saying this is a one piece item and I need to order the whole axle assembly at the cost of $718.00. Is this true? Is there a more efficient way? One more thing, where is the center jacking point for the front and rear of the car? Regards Scott
  16. The end of the axel is damaged. I cant see it but I can feel it. There is a disk/bowl that holds in the grease on the end of the axel. There is grease coming out. How do I remove the axel?
  17. I wanted to post an image but I don't seem to have the privileges. Do I need to become a contributing member? S
  18. I think I found the issue. The drivers side axel is disconnected! Why would this happen?
  19. Hi all, I just wanted to update on my findings. The spark plug tubes were the source of my oil leak. I tried the boat plug method to remove them but did not have muck luck. I ended up using a screw driver to pop them out. Of course I damaged them in the process but they were old and brittle. I recommend replacing the tubes along with the o-rings if your car is as old as mine (2000 with 100+K miles. As far as the O2 sensor issue goes I don't know. I cleared my O2 alarm several weeks ago with my Durametric and have yet to see it return. Much thanks to everyone's help! Regards, Scott
  20. I have a 2000 base with 5 speed. Car has 2004 K miles. The car has been working great, no issues with shifting. Tonight I was driving home on the freeway doing about 75 MPH when all of a sudden I hear a bang/thud noise and I've lost all gears! No 1 2 3 4 5 or reverse. Engine sounds fine. Had the car towed 85 miles to my house. Any ideas what happened to my car? Thanks, Scott
  21. Hi, I'm looking to find the part number to a indicator light. Years ago I installed a rear spoiler indicator light that fit where one of the center console switches are located(previous boxster). I have a 2000 base manual. I need it on the left side of the console. Regards, Scott
  22. Great write up kbrandsma! Thank you! Scott
