  1. Latest Update: I gave up on it, for now. My Porsche dealer is 45 minutes away and they are building a new one 5 minutes from my house, so I am waiting for it to open in March. Here is what I have done so far. Replace the Airbag Control Module, no difference I am reading a low voltage on the K2 bus lead (Pin 3 on the OBDII connector) 1.2 volts Disconnected the ABS Controller, no difference & voltage is still there Disconnected the Air Bag Controller, no difference & voltage is still there Disconnected the AC Controller, no difference & voltage is still there Pulled the Seat and disconnected the Seat Controller and that did remove the voltage, but I still cannot talk to the other modules. Pulled all the connectors and NO Corrosion on any of them, including the Alarm Connectors. Verified continuity on the K2 bus for the ABS, AC, Air Bag and Seat Modules, I didn't feel like pulling the dash out. Verified the common ground to all the modules. Durametrics was no help at all, except to tell me to check the continuity of the K2 bus and ground. They did say I should not have any voltage on Pin 3. Bottom line is I am taking it to the dealer, from what I understand they can do a through diagnostics, something the Durametrics cannot do.
  2. Here is what they said. We do not have any specific troubleshooting steps to offer other than the following: - Be sure K-line 2 (OBDII pin 3) is not grounded. - Be sure K-line 2 does not have battery voltage with key-on - You might check continuity between pin 3 of the OBDII connector and the appropriate pin of the airbag unit (or another unit on K-line 2). You might try pulling the other modules off the K2 bus; we do not know the possible consequences of doing so.
  3. Anyone have any idea how to test it? Like I said , I am planning on pulling all the modules off except the airbag module and try to talk to it alone on the K2 bus. Any other thoughts?
  4. Need some help. Looking for some troubleshooting support on a 1999 Boxster equipped with 5 speed, M535 Alarm, M537 Seat Memory, M659 Onboard Computer, Auto Climate Control. I replaced the turn signal stalk assembly about a year ago and didn’t get the airbag sensor lead snapped back into place, it bounced off and the airbag light came on a couple of days later. Finally ordered the Durametric software and it cannot see anything except the ECU and Alarm Control Unit. I do understand there are two data busses on the car with the ECU and Alarm unit are on the K1 bus and the other units are on the K2 bus. I’m not even sure what modules you can even talk to on the 1999. Anyone have any info about the Instrument Panel, ABS, Airbag, Air Cond, & Seat Memory modules. Short Test Results Bosch Digital Motor Electronics Motronic 5.2.2 No Faults Found ABS/PSM 5.3 Blank Airbag B05 No Faults Found, but light is on Automatic Air Conditioning H01 Blank Alarm I32 No Faults Found Seat Memory No Faults Found Instrument Cluster K01-K03 No Faults Found When I try to connect to an individual module, only the ECU and Alarm show connections and part numbers, everything else shows it cannot connect………… Communications Error Unable to connect to this module. This may not be an indication of a problem if the car is not equiped with this control module. My question is, does anyone have any good troubleshooting ideas? I have worked in electronics my entire life and know one of the units might be bad and screwing up the bus data. I’m not sure if they are serial data busses with one unit looping thru the next or all the units just sit on the bus and talk when addressed. My only thoughts are to pull the other modules off, except the airbag unit and see what happens..
