  1. Yeah was really getting a bad vibe. He wouldn't give the vin cause he was concerned about privacy. He also wanted me to give him a deposit of 300 dollars that he would keep whether I bought it or not. He also did not want me to have it inspected at a independant shop he only wanted it done at the dealer. Here is the kicker, he said i couldnt drive. So I said no thanks. I appreciate all your help. Thanks.
  2. Hello all need help. I am looking to buy a 99 996 c2. I want to get a ppi but porsche dealers only do multipoint inspection is this equivalent to a ppi. Seller will only do dealer eval no independant shop. All help is appreciated. Thanks
  3. Hey Loren thanks for the info but the seller doesnt want to give out the vin until i come down and see the car. Had a question. Are porsche dealer multipoint inspection equal to a ppi? He had one done and it all checks out . The seller will only go to a dealer for inspection. If i repeat one can i trust it?
  4. I had the seller check the door sticker and he states it was made 4/1998. He could not tell me the country code because he does no have the original sticker. is there another way to find out? The seller states he has all the work done at a dealer and has the invoices. If that is the case then if the car had a major problem like case porosity or anything close to catastrophic it would have been documented correct? I planning on looking at the car on Thursday and having the dealer do a PPI on it. Any and all help is appreciated.
  5. The seller states it has been smogged and the registration is up in 9/2012 in california.
  6. Hello all. I like many of you have been bitten by the PCar bug and have found a euro spec 1999 996 couple. Its got 60000 miles. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the differences between a euro spec vs one for the us. Should I feel more comforted that the car has 60000 and no ims issues? The person I am considering buying the car from states he has had the car maintained by the dealer. He states he just had the 60000 maintenance done at the dealer. Does this mean the car is unlikely to have any major issues like porosity issue? Any thing else I should look for or be concerned about with this car. I learned my lesson well a few months ago and got a ppi which cost me 500 but saved me 40500 dollars. Please let me know.
  7. Hello all. Thanks for all the good advise. I decided to pull the trigger and got it inspected and found out the car had alot more problems then I thought. It had some emission sensors not working and most concerning and the deal killer engine porosity.
  8. Thank you guys for all your input. Now gotta decide to.pull the trigger.
  9. You probably know that there are multiple versions of the IMSB in m96 engines. The earlier IMSB is a candidate for IMS retrofit, it has a 13mm center nut. The later m96 such as those used as replacement engines in 996s may have the later IMSB with 22mm center nut which is not a candidate for the LN Eng IMS retrofit. Unfortunately, the transmission must be dropped to determine which IMSB you have. Has the engine been replaced in the 911 that you are considering? No the engine has not been replaced. Can you tell by the block number?
  10. I've read alot about the ims and ems issues. Can a mechanic check the ims to see if it needs to be replaced? Would it be better to put the 1500-25oo into buying a 2002 911 turbo with 80-90000 miles?miles due to the engine being more"bomb proof"? The owner of the c2 is a friends relative so that is why the good price.
  11. As for options it has a factory upgraded exhaust, lojack and turbo style wheels.
  12. Hello all. I am considering a 2000 996 c2 cab. Black six speed with 10000 miles. The person selling it has babied it and is the first owner. Has has porsche shop change the oil. Selling for 24000. What do you guys think? Appreciate your input in advanced.
