  1. I read the DIY road rash repair and that looks awesome. However, would this work on a chromed wheel? I don't want to damage the chroming when trying to repair the scuff. Thanks..
  2. Well there is definately black residue in the tail pipes, and the tail pipes are pretty much brand new (< 1000 km since I changed to a sport exhaust). They are continuing to evaluate the situation. MM
  3. I have a porsche zoom child seat. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing MM
  4. Well the Porsche mechanic cannot find a leak anywhere, and says the RMS is fine. They feel it is burning this much oil. However, I have just found out that Porsche does not want to replace my engine yet. They want to continue to monitor for ongoing oil consumption. My warranty ends in 3 months. I'm starting to feel that they are stalling until off warranty. Not very impressed. Yesterday was driving and my oil failure indicator went on. The oil level was a couple bars below full even though it was completely topped up about 4 days ago at the dealership. I added a quarter liter. I agree something is very wrong hear. Any suggestions?? MM
  5. I put in a liter of oil each time I fill up for gas now (its been getting worse), so approximately every 400 km. How about you? MM
  6. Hi, my 02' C4 Cab has been burning a lot of oil. My Porsche service center after monitoring the situation for a while has determined I need a new engine. Fortunately i'm still under warranty. Is this a good thing for me or a bad thing? Any down side to a new engine? Thanks
  7. I can only contribute my experience in 02' 996. Was getting a couple wierd warning lites (like roll over, and oil sensor failure) for a few weeks before. Starter seemed to drag a couple times when starting. Then Car wouldn't start. Battery voltmeter read normal. Couldn't even boost it. Changed battery with a NAPA battery and no problems, don't get any warning lights anymore either. The batteries apparently are only good for about 4 years, maybe 5 max. So if you have original battery would suggest that might be place to start. Also suggest not getting Porsche battery as they charge an arm and a leg and are not as good as 3rd party batteries. Hope that helps
  8. I purchased the Dansk Super Sound sport exhaust, and I got the twin round tips for my 2002 C4 Cab. The mufflers themselves sound great. They have a very aggressive sound similar to PSE. However, there is of course no shut off switch. The twin round tips do not fit very well on my vehicle (they seem too big for the openings), and if I did it again I would have just stuck with the factory tips. I installed the mufflers on my own, it took about 4 hours (I had not done it before on a Porsche). It is actually very tight space to work in under there and not as easy as some people make it sound. The Porsche dealer would have charged me about 350 bucks to install them. Overall happy with the mufflers. Take care. Mike
  9. Well thats what I think, but I get half of the people saying it is normal. I just don't think it is... Mike
  10. Ok, after much fiddeling was able to put the tips in a position such that they do not touch any part of the bumper.. However there is only about 1-2 mm clearance at some points. I'm going to see if this is ok... Quite honestly there does not seem to be any way to make this better, other than adjusting the whole rear bumper upwards! The key to adjusting the tips seems to be loosening everything up.. have someone hold the tip in the position you want it.. and then tighten everything up. Mike
  11. Ok here is a picture of my passenger exhaust. You can see it is pretty tight. No matter how I adjust it, somewhere on it it touches the bumper! What do you guys think PS Sorry the car is dirty, its bad weather here. Thanks Mike
  12. Did the rear bumper on the 996 change from 01' to 02'. Could this quad pipe tips be for the 01' and earlier bumper that may have had a larger opening for the tip??
  13. Yes, I really don't want them touching.. Unfortunately they are so large they fill the entire orifice! There really is no way to orient them such that they are not touching some part with out them pointing at a weird angle (ie downward). These are Dansk quad tips. I'm writing the company to make sure they are right size for my 996 (c4 02' cab) .. They almost seem too big.
  14. Well we did it! We managed to install the Dansk Super Sport exhaust with quad tips today. The quad pipe tips look great, but they are huge! They actually are so big that they 'touch' the bumper edge.. Is this ok? Do the tips get so hot they may damage my bumper? The exhaust sounds great. No resonance so far. Much louder than stock exhaust. It was actually not that easy to get the old mufflers out though! It does take some work, those bolts are hard to get to, and there isn't much room to work. Then putting it in it is quite difficult to get the one mounting bracket bolt in, not much room to get your hand back there. Had it on jacks, left the wheels on. Also, taking the bracket off the old muffler that holds the muffler to the tips was miserable. That thing was really stuck on there. Worried we would break it in the process. Would advise anyone who is doing this to make sure they order a new set of brackets so they don't need the old ones to put the tips on the new muffler. When I started the car up there was quite a lot of smoke for the first couple minutes, and there was some bad odor, but sure this 'normal' for a new muffler. Will put up pics if any one wants. Mike
  15. No, nothing changed with the oil. I only use Mobil 1 0w40 oil. My car did get in an accident at about the time the oil consumption increased.. but this was just a fender bender, when the car was parked and someone drove into the front bumper... But I don't see how this could cause an increase in oil consumption.
  16. Yes, I would agree. However up to 45,000km the oil usage was non measurable, however in the last 2 thousand km's its 1 litre per 1000 km. I assume that a change in oil consumption is more of a concern than the oil consumption itself. Agree?
  17. I know this topic has been batted around alot, but would like some opinions. My 02' C4 Cab will be going off warranty in the next 6 months or so. Lately I have noticed increased oil consumption (about 1 litre every 750-1000km). There are no obvious oil leaks and everythign else seems fine. Before it goes off warranty is there anything I demand the dealers do to ensure I won't have a problem a year down the line? I know some oil consumption is 'normal' but mine seems to be increasing. Thanks Mike
  18. I've read a number of threads on changing the mufflers and tips on 02' Carrera Cab. Most say to put the car up on jack stands +/- remove the rear wheels. Can you change mufflers by backing the car up onto a ramp? Has anyone done this? Tips? Thanks
  19. Where is the best place people have found to buy a case of Mobil 1 0W-40 oil in Canada? What is a good price per litre? Thanks! Mike
  20. Well I had the same question. I have ordered "Carcrafter" pedals. I haven't received them. They look really nice, and don't need to be drilled. I will let you know how they turn out. Should be here in next few days. Good luck
  21. LOL, yes have visited the sound studio. Wondered if anyone had heard it in real life? You don't like NASCAR? :) Mike
  22. I have just ordered a Dansk Super Sport Exhaust for my 996. I think the part number is 99.300S EXP. Does anyone have any experience with this exhaust? What did you think? Thanks!
  23. Thats awesome! I just received my "911" from Car-Gems today and am going to go put it on my decklid right now! Thanks again!
  24. Can you post for the 911 40th anniversary placement? Thanks!
