  1. I hear you on this. Your dealer should be able to tell you how to get around this. I have a 2012 cayenne ctt. I decided that I would just set it up so that it did not move the seat or steering wheel when I turned it off. If you are the primary driver, then not a problem . Also I wonder how long the seat and steering wheel motors will last if always moving back and forth. I know that the warrenty is for 4 years and the miles; but I suspect that most of us are going to be keeping these things for some time. just a thought. Sometimes the car manufacturers seem to make things overly complex. It has been somewhat a challenge to get through all the manuals; but it has been a good challenge to keep the brain sharp. On the negative side, you can surely waste a bunch of time trying to figure it out.
  2. I have a 2012 turbo with power kit. I have just finished about 1600 mile trip going from Chicago area to Mississippi. I bought a couple of quarts of Mobile 1 as there had been much talk about oil usage in the turbos. I went no more than 10-20 mph more than the speed limit. As I am breaking the car in with Porsche's recommended method [not more than 4200 rpm for first 2000 miles], I have not gotten really 'on it' per se. Cruising at or about 70 mph +- 5 mph I was getting 24mpg. I have had no oil consumption as far as the oil level on the car can indicate. My guess is that if you are not really into the turbos, your oil consumption will not be very much. After the break in period, I will be using more speed and rpm [that is why I got it]. I will post more data on oil consumption then. I wonder how many of our group really stuck to the break in period? There must be a reason Porsche is so particular with the break in period. I did the same thing with my BMW M3 when I had it and had minimum oil consumption despite how hard I got on it.
  3. Well to answer my own question; heated windshield does not block use of iPASS in paying for tolls. So I assume that it would not interfere much with radar detectors. Having said that I went with the K40 360 install to be a little less obvious than using the windshield mounted Valentine one I have used for years. As the Cayenne adaptive cruise uses K band radar for the front for distance and the lane warning option on the car uses K radar at the back bumper for monitoring, you have to turn off the K band in the rear K40 monitor. Now will that mean I am flying blind to most of the radar used for monitoring speed, I have no idea. If I get some info will post on that. One thing on the heated windshield that I had been warned about but had not witnessed until last night while driving, is that the wires in the windshield do cause a mild glare reflection when oncoming headlights hit them. It is a little distracting. As I live in the Chicago area and winter is bad [ although not as bad a construction], I decided to go for it. As they say no good deed goes unpunished.
  4. Greetings all. I have on order a 2012 ctt and decided that scraping off ice in the chicago area might be avoided with the heated windshield. As with all decisions there is a dark side, besides the cost. Does anyone have any knowledge [hopefully first hand] as to whether the heated windshield will cause massive decrease of the sensitivity of the radar detector? I have heard from the dealer that IPASS is not interfered with by the windshield. I would like to avoid having to use a remote radar detector. Thanks for any feed back anyone might have.
