  1. I have a 99 c4 911 and I'm trying to replace the original ignition switch with the suggested replacement ignition switch according to the TSB number 2804. I have all the parts I need but I do not have the appropriate technical manuals. According to the TSB I need the following: 911 Carrera (996) Technical Manual, Group 2: > Repairs 28-1 - Removing and installing ignition switch Group 4: > Repairs: 48-19 Removing and installing lock barrel 48-21 Replacing steering lock Does anyone have this section of the manual? I only have the Group 0 section of the manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Thanks again, Loren! Just saved me $40 on the part!
  3. Thanks, Loren! Any suggestions on where to buy the parts?
  4. I have a 99 c4 coupe that I've changed the ignition switch on too many times. I know from reading previous posts that porsche has replaced the orignal switch and lock mechanism but I can't find any info on what the replacement part numbers are and how to do the swap. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Don.
  5. Strange thing just happeded ... parked my 1999 996 C4, locked it w/ key fob, came back about 15 min. later, unlocked w/ same key fob, started the car, and heard 4 or 5 short rapid fire alarm burst (i.e. beep, beep, beep, beep, beep). When I tried to move the car (either reverse or forward) the alarm would go off (long successive beeps). Finally, i decided to drive the care w/ the alarm going off but as soon as I drove forward several feet the alarm stopped. Any ideas???
  6. Is it possible to change the battery in the key without re-programming? Also, is this a standard battery, or is this something Porsche specific? Thanks!
  7. I had the same exact DTCs (P1128 & P1130). Actually, started with just a P1128 and eventually both (I suspect the sensitivity of the O2 sensor in the one bank was higher than the other). Checked for leaks, as Loren suggested in a previous posting. Found none. Ordered a MAF sensor from Sunset Imports for about $270. Changed it myself in about 10 min. (you'll need a T20 security Torx socket that can be purchased at various auto parts stores for about $10). Problem fixed. Haven't had CEL for over 600 mi. now. I use to get a CEL about every 100-200mi (sometimes sooner depending on driving habits). Also, idles much smoother now.
  8. Loren, please send me the email as well on how to check #'s 3-5. Thanks!
