  1. I did the exchange last a few weeks back. Did not want to be without my car for too long. I know Darin is very busy right now. It took almost 6 weeks after my original order to receive them. BTW...LOVE THEM!
  2. Personally don't like the LED's. Not too bad on a tail light but I wouldn't mess with the headlights (best part of the 996!).
  3. I have been driving alot in the past month or so and we have been +105 almost every day. I have not noticed a change in my temp. Always sits on the left side of the "0" in 180. I had questions about the right oil so called my Indy who used Mobil 1 15W 50 on my last oil change. Owned the car less than a year so I am not sure what was in there before.
  4. I went online last week (Thursday, 5/17) and ordered the Fister D Exhaust under the exchange program. I got the confirmation email that said someone would be in touch very soon. No word yet. How long did it take you to hear back from them?
  5. Today I backed my car (MY03, 52K miles) out of the driveway and when turning the steering wheel noticed for the first time a significant amount of "wobble" as if the wheel is moving vertically up and down as I am turning it. Otherwise, the car ran fine, no noticible change in the quality of the drive. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
  6. Just looked at the DIY on the gbox oil. Looks like I will be heading to my Indy since I am not that mechanically inclined! A dipstick would have been nice! Thanks again!
  7. Logray...not sure about the gbox oil. Only had the car for 3K miles (51K total). I will check that this afternoon and get back to you. Thanks as usual!
  8. I have read here about a test to see if your clutch needs replacing. Basically involves getting the car moving in 2nd or 3rd. Can anyone expand on this for me? What exactly do I look/listen for? All seems fine, except when shifting from 2nd-3rd the stick seems to engage all by itself (very little pressure on my part to put it in 3rd), but this only happens when driven cold. After a few miles it is fine. It almost feels like it is slipping from 2nd-3rd. Is this a clutch issue or a transmission issue? Thanks in advance.
  9. My problem was with the speaker box. I had a new sound system installed and they missed tightening the screws on the sub in the passenger door.
  10. rasank...thanks! My clutch only has a short life left so I am planning on doing what you did. Have a great Christmas/New Years!
  11. rasank...can I ask what your indy charged for the clutch, IMS and RMS? Thanks.
  12. Of course, the cutout in the dash had to be modified to fit the new deck, but the AC controls and new pocket fit easily in the slots where the old CD holders and stereo were. The wiring just followed. Note that the AC controls are at the lowest point on the dash since that component is not as wide (and the dash narrows at the bottom). I decided this would minimize the customization and keep things as "natural" looking as possilble. Since the pocket could be any size I wanted, that wasn't an issue. As noted, when adding the new deck the existing subs would not work with the new unit due t
  13. AOS was fine. Just replaced the lower hose to the AOS. $275 at my Indy.
  14. After driving my 03 996 Cab 51k miles I would always notice a fairly strong smell of oil, even after only going a few miles. About a month ago, I noticed an oil leak and had it identified as the lower hose leading to the AOS. My indy checked the AOS/Bellows and all was fine. They replaced the leaky hose. I thought that the oil smell would stop, but it hasn't. There are no oil leaks and I check the oil every other day and the computer continues to show full over the past 30 days. I looked in the forum and others had similar issues with answers ranging from "that's normal" to "its the coa
  15. Thanks. It is definitely coming from inside the passenger side door. Must be from either the speaker box or window assembly. I will post what I find.
  16. I did, but the "spotter" was my wife who lost interest within 5 minutes. However, we concluded that the sound is definitely coming from the passenger side (similar sound as Gyorgy noted). I have it narrowed down to the passenger side door assembly, the speaker box on top of the dash or the passenger side airbag compartment. I am not going to mess with the airbag, but I am going to get to the others this week. Will post if I find anything. It is interesting that the sound comes and goes. I think that when the weather is warmer, the sound goes away. Good thing I live in AZ! Thanks.
  17. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to find a rattle and this forum narrows it down to oh, about 100 possible causes! I am throwing this out there to see if you guys can help me get lucky. 03 996 Cab. 50k miles. 6-spd. The rattle sounds like something is loose (dash, door, top?) who knows where. I have tried pressing on all the dash components, cup holder, center console, speaker boxes, top, everything, but have been unable to isolate the location. I don't hear it with the top up or windows down, but I am assuming that is because I simply can't hear it over the wind/road noi
  18. Just got my car back from the shop. Topped off the hydraulic fluid and all works great. And to think the dealer wanted $1200 for a new pump!
  19. MY03 Carrera Cab (50,500 miles). The Cab top goes down ok, but struggles to go up. The dealer says I need a new hydraulic pump ($1200), but, this situation has been slowly getting worse which makes me think it could simply be that I need to add hydraulic fluid. The dealer disagrees and says they checked it. I read the DIY and it looks fairly easy to get to the pump, but how will I know if it is low on fluid or not? Does the reservoir need to be 100% full? Thanks in advance.
  20. JRW...I am dealing with the same issue now. On my 03 Carrera Cab (50k miles) I have an oil leak from the crankcase breather line. From what I have read here and on other blogs, replacing the AOS seems to be a popular move. Unlike you, I do not have the skills to do this myself, but I will let you know what I found out from my shop. Good luck!
