You do not have to move the turbos or lower the engine
I did it and while it was a challenge it was very very doable
if you guys are interested in maintaining your car correctly you have to be aware of the time limits
spark plugs are four years or 30,000 miles
So you have five years on your spark plugs and you’re not doing your car any favors

hey Joe, how are you?? If your stock mounts are not toen and look good you can reuse them. I bought 2 new non x73 mounts for the pss10`s and they worked great. I did not see any difference in appearance between my old x73 mounts and these. The cost was about $150 each. My car is lowered to the x73 specs and all is well. Look at it this way: there are thousands of PSS9`s and 10 kits that lower to x73 and they all use the stock mounts, some are even lowered more than that!!! just saying........Mike

If this mechanic suggested Pulstar plugs for your Turbo, then you need to get a NEW mechanic!! Who knows what he will F#@% up next.
-
Cheers. Do you have to remove the turbo's too to do the shields on those??
Dave.
NO!
-
Mike, I apologize. The tensioner pulley bolt on my non-turbo comes in from the front of the car toward the rear through the tensioner pulley itself. The bolt on mine actually is removed after the tensioner pulley is removed. Perhaps mine is not the same.
http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...amp;hl=tension*
See post #4 for graphic on non-turbo
Hey no problema 2fast. I found out that you have to remove the exhaust then the engine carrier.
Not a big deal, but a little time consuming. Mike
-
I`m not sure what you mean. You have to take the bolt out to remove the pulley. How did you leave the bolt in AND replace the pulley?? Am I missing something? thanks MikeAssuming that the turbo is the same as the non-turbo. I left the bolt in, cleaned it, added new loctite and put the new pulley on. Approx. 6,000 miles later and no problems. -
On my 01 Turbo the lower tension pulley is making a racket and I will be replacing it. The problem
is the bolt hits the engine carrier and I cannoy pull the bolt out all the way. My options are to remove muffler and then the carrier or remove the gerator bracket which is a pain in the arss. Has anyone done this yet??

How`s it going Loren. Can you do me a favor? I have a tsb#4897 and when I go to page 48 97 19
I cannot access it. This is R&R of this pump but can`t find it in my manual. It may be a suppliment.
Could you please post this up for us? Thanks Mike

I have an 01 turbo with the stock moveable wing and need to buy a tap for the thread inserts that attach to the hydrolic rams. I know you need a 14mm allen socket to remove these but I need the dimensions of the bore and thread pitch as I am machining an extension piece to raise up 1 inch for an aftermarket spoiler. I know it is close to 21 or 22 mm but because I have to order this tap I need to know for sure. Loren can you perform another miracle?? thanks Mike
-
Works fine for me...
Yeah it works fine Loren, Thanks, Mike

Hey Loren, I can`t get this DIY to come up. I found the link but it won`t load HELP!!!!!!!!!
thanks Mike
-
It`s your DV`s...they go bad.....change them for evo`s or Baily`s. The dealers for some reason have a tough time diagnosing the problem. EVERY stock DV will fail .....so change em NOW
-
Hi Loren. What`s up with changing the bottle. I know I have to remove the boost hose, but what else? I can`t find the DIY on the 996 car. Is the procedure different for the turbo?? thanks Mike
-
The Turbo will be night and day difference from your C4. A little more rear tire wear and a 4 hour spark plug change, but the turbo will be more reliable than your RMS timebomb. Different case. serious power. I don`t mean to be arrogant but I devide the Porsche family into T urbo and non-turbo. All Porsche`s overall victories at Lemans were with turbo cars. The only other thing that come`s close or some say exceeds, is a GT3 Go for it, you won`t be sorry

Headlight fault codes do not show up in any dash lights - only DME faults (and not all of them produce a CEL).
I live in Morgan Hill (just South of San Jose) so if you are close I can look up my PST2 and check it out for you. Drop me a PM if you want to do this.
Thanks Loren, that`s very nice of you. I am a little north of SF. I will PM you when I know when I`ll be in your area. Mike
-
I would say the first step is hook the car up to a PST2 and see what the faults are? Since parts have been removed and either replaced or re-installed then a calibration would be in order also (PST2 again).
Where are you located?
Loren I do not have any fault codes that show up on the dash. I live in north california, mike

Hi Loren. I have an 01 turbo and my self leveling headlights do not work anymore. Is there a Porsche trouble shooting guide that can lead me to the problem. I did replace suspension and removed the leveling sensor but I was extremely careful so I don`t think it is that. The dealer also replaced the headlight bracket once as my light was stuck and could nor be removed. They basically broke the plastic base to get the headlight out then replaced the bracket. This may be the prob but I need to troubleshoot in a logical sequence. Thanks guys
-
There isn't really a DIY for that. But to get to the injectors on that side they recommend removing the air pump. I think you just need enough room to get your hand(s) in there.
Thanks for that Loren. Is removing the air pump pretty staight forward??
-
Hey Loren. How`s it going? Would you happen to have a DIY on the turbo fuelpressure regulator. I think you have to disconnect the air pump and oil filler neck. Thanks Mike
-
It seems that it would not be that difficult. Does anyone have any tips? I also need the torque specs, Thanks Mike
PS hey Loren, have you ever come across this DIY~~~~~~~~I tried searching but could not find
-
Thankyou Loren
-
Hey Loren or anyone else.......would you have this. There are 2 diff specs for 2 diff sized bolts, thanks Mike
-
I had the 3 inch chrome headlight washer plate blow off on my Turbo. I bought the new part, but does anyone know how to install this part. I assume I have to take the headlight unit apart, thanks Mike
-
I removed the cupholders to fix them and now I`m having a hard time reinstalling them. I have no NAV. Does anyone have the procedure to do this thanks Mike
