  1. Hi, Trying to fit 19" 997 Turbo Style alloys to my 2000 C4 996. The Rear alloys/tyres fit fine with no issues but the front alloys are catching the bottom of spring suspension plate / guard at the top of the tyre. Just wondering can the front springs be altered so not cone shaped ? (i.e So like the rear springs) or Do I have to go down the route of wheel spacers, which to be honest im not keen on as would mean 20mm+ spacers and push me outside of the wheel arch. Any advice would be greatly received Chris
  2. Thanks for responses. Have taken look in the car and have a OEM amp which i guess is causing the problem. So I have ordered a better new 6 channel amp to replace it but just wondering whether I can use the standard amp wiring or does it need replacing too ?? Anyone know any tutorials for replacing / upgrading audio / amp in 996 C4 as cant find any on web? (Even diagram explaining what each colour wire entering the oem amp is would help) Cheers
  3. Thanks for the reply Simon. Were is the amp located ? Will check its connections from head unit and hopefully that will be it - or in your research is the fix simply a replacement amp ?? Wish mine only went off just once a year, mine goes off every time i go out.
  4. My 2000 C4 is randomly losing audio. Having now bought a new cd player, thinking the old cd player was faulty but as is now re-occuring with the newly installed unit, guessing wiring / car problem. The only way to get audio back is to power the cd player off or turn the car off. I do get a crackling in sound sometimes before it goes off and other times no warning - the audio just disappears. Anyone else had this problem? Is there a common fix ?
  5. Thanks kent996, so what is the fix for the TCU ? Is it expensive job ?
  6. Hi Thanks for the responses lads. So far have had the fluids changed in the car, which hasn't resolved the problem and a porsche specialist looked over bearings and everything mechanically but says all that seems fine and they cant find out whats making the noise - saying its probably a wind panel but to keep going until it gets worse so they can locate it easier. I have checked out the above link, which kinda sounds like the problem im having but the noise im getting happens in straight lines or corners always around 1500 to 2000 revs then simply goes. The garage I have bought it from wants me to collect the car back as they say nothing mechanically can be found wrong with it (but obviously something isn't right) and I only have 30 day warranty with the car so ive got get problem resolved before then. Im thinking they have to take it to the porsche main dealer to get problem detected / resolved but they are saying the main dealers will come back as confused as the specialists (with same findings) and charge fortune in labour for the privilege. Anyone got anymore suggestions on what problem could be ? Thanks Again Chris
  7. Hi just bought myself a 2000 Carrera 4 with 80k and an exceptional porsche service history. Only problem is im sometimes getting a slight grinding from the front end of the car when accelerating. I know the car has been standing for a while, just wondering if anyone has had the same sort of problem / issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as the car is still under warranty if it could potentially be something serious.
