  1. I don't think so. I've only seen them re-calibrate the steering angle sensor (after alignment) and test the other sensors to see if they are in range. Since none of the 4WD cars are allowed in professional (American Le Mans Series) racing I doubt Porsche MotorSport has anything either. Maybe the off-road and rally guys have something but I have never heard of it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey Loren, I thought the steering angel sensor was related to the slip angle? This is why I thought the recalibrating of the steering angle sensor changes the system's perception of your slip angle. If I'm not mistaken, I got this from RC at Rennteam which is why I had it done to my car after putting on spacers and larger rear tires.
  2. when i had the lightweight flywheel (and stronger clutch) in my 996, the chatter was pretty much only at idle and only with the clutch out. my cgt makes the same chatter from idle to appx 2k. once you get used to it, it's no big deal. but, i'm very surprised your 996 is making the chatter off idle.
  3. tirerack only has tires listed for the 04 and only has pirellis listed. i wonder if these are really ok vs. the michelin pilots that came on my 05: Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetrico (Max Performance Summer) Front: 265/35YR19 N0 (Porsche OE) Serv. 4. thanks loren. from the diagram, #22 looks like it is treated as one piece for replacement rather than being able to just replace the non-upholstered portion which contains the latching mechanism. and, dealer says the part numbers are not in the system. therefore they'll have to order a new glove box door in ascot. i hope that doesn't take too long since i have no glove until and it looks pretty cheesy with the door off.
  5. Hi Loren, they are the portion of the glove box door excluding the upholstery.
  6. can anyone please pull up these part numbers? 996.552.509.00 996.552.279.00 it turns out the plastic arm broke which goes into the first part number but the first part number is rivoted into the 2nd and the felt on the back means both have to be replaced.
  7. in the alignment knowledge dept - especially as relates track and/or aggressive mountain driving? if so, please PM me. thanks
  8. a problem with a bone dry 996 (NA or TT) not accepting any gas (ie: spitting it out as fast as you can pour it)?
  9. i dunno don, they just said a bad tire. the darn tires are a whole 2k miles old too. guess i'm gonna buy new tires and see if that takes care of it.
  10. have got a 996 with H&R coilovers and gt3 adjustable sways (installed about 6k miles and 1 1/2 years ago). not too long ago i noticed on the highway that when i let off the gas the steering wheel rotated and the car pulled a little and then straightened out. this happens any time i have at least 3k rpm and either give it gas or let off the gas (iow, anytime i transfer weight front to rear or rear to front) - and when i let of the gas to push in the clutch when changing gears, etc. i took it to the shop to have it checked out since the last time i experienced something like this my rear tierod bolt fell off at 70 mph on the highway shortly after (different car) resulting in a totaled car and a lucky me to escape scratchless. anyway, they said i had a bad tire because when it moved it to the other side it pulled to the other side when transfering the weight. this was a couple weeks ago and i hadn't gotten around to changing it. but, i was just tonight wondering how a bad tire could cause an instant reaction to transer. how does a directional push work in relation to a bad tire?
  11. thanks, i was hoping the opposite. any chance they're made out of a lighter material?
  12. Thanks Colm and Loren. The GT3 is not an option because I'm a cab guy. I'm thinking the same thing you are Loren with respect to using the X51 to make the car more receptive to the increased power from the SC from a durability standpoint. Does the X51 sound better given the exhaust manifolds are diff?
  13. X51 can only be added to an 3.6L (new or retrofitted). I'm wondering whether one should get it on a new 3.6 car - "especially" if the car is going to be supercharged anyway.
  14. "A pair of high-efficiency silencers, as well as resonators in the induction system, help reduce unwanted noise even more." anyone know what this is all about and/or how it can be reversed?
