Does anyone have the alignment specs for 2002 C4S?
Thanks
-
I was leaning toward the PSS10's. I had Pzero's and got 15k on them until they started cupping on the inside then I got continentals and and did and alignment to spec and only got 8k on them wore out the inside tread clear to the cords. Just seeing what spec I should align at.
Thanks

Hello all:
I have a 2002 manual C4S with 997 turbo look wheels 19x8 (235-35-19) front and 19x11 (315x25-19) rear. I currently have Continentals on it and the fronts are in great shape, but the rears are wearing the inside of each. I have TOYO T1R's coming. Question is there an alignment spec for more of a daily driver set up? Even though I like to drive it spirted as much as I can, it does get driven like a regular auto on the freeway. I do not track this car.
I would also like to put on some coil overs to lower the car about 25 to 30 mm what affect will that have on the alignment spec for tire wear.
I know currently the camber is just a little bit to negative according to the forums and that is the cause for the tire where. If I lower and put on the coilovers will I be able to compensate for the negative camber.
Would you sugest Coil overs or lowering springs?
My suspension is currently OEM?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for everyone responding. I have the PSE installed just making sure it was on. It does sound better than stock and for sure around 4000rpm it sounds really good.

When you install the PSE system without the electronics to turn it off when under a certain MPH, does it mean it will stay on all of the time to have the sound or is there something you need to do to keep it open to make it louder as opposed to the quiet mode?
Thanks

Added a side by side photo to the original post above. It is nice to be able to drive this anywhere more or less. My friends in the Lambo and the Z06 are constantly scraping and have to plan their routes around town. The lowered look does look good. Someday I am happy with the height and others I am not. Thanks again for your input.

I believe my 02 Targa was originally set-up similar to what you are attempting. I don't have the exact numbers handy but it was lowered by the previous owner by more than 1". It was also running 235/35R19 tires on front and 315/25R19 tires on rear.
I love the looks of the car and it definitely appears to fill the wheel wells out more than stock. However I would strongly caution against lowering the car that much. The main issue is that the dramatically reduces the clearance of the front bumper . With the C4S bumper I had to be extremely careful not to scrape the nose. Driveways were the worst since the car is usually angled downwards when it meets the incline of the driveway. In one instance the bumper actually caught a small lip on the driveway and pulled part of the bumper from the car.
A secondary issue was that it was impossible to get the alignment into spec when lowered that far. The rear cambre was too negative at the limit which resulted in too much tire wear on the inside of the tire.
The third issue is that the car would occasionally bottom-out the suspension when there were significant dips in the road. It was only an issue when driving quickly on really bad roads though.
I have since raised the car up so that it is just slightly lower than the ROW spec for the 996. Clearance is no longer an issue and I have managed to get almost 40,000 KM on a set of PS2s :-)
Although the body role was noticeably reduced when the car was lower. The car definitely felt more planted in corners.
The 19" rims have also been a bit of a problem for me. It doesn't look like the 315/25R19 size will be available for either the new Michelin Pilot Super Sports or the new Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position. I am hoping to drop to 295/30R19 but the diameter is 0.8" larger. If I had to do it again I would have stayed with 18" rims since I believe the car's handling isn't as neutral as with the stock setup. But on the other hand the 19" rims do look good.

Thanks
Part of the fun is making your car look a little different than the next guys.
Here we are getting ready to go for a burn.
I have a 2002 C4S and am wondering what would be the best way to lower the ride Height by 1" to 1.25". I do not track the car just want the look with less wheel well showing. I have put 997 19" turbo wheels on it with the following tire and rim sizes (Front 235/35/19 Rim is 19x8 Rear 315/25/19 Rim is 19x11) to compensate so the diameter of the tire and rim stayed constant with the 18"'s that were on it to begin with. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
This is with the 19" wheels. Kind of on a downhill slope from the nose of the car with a shadow in the front so makes the front end look high.
This is with 18" wheels. The gap with the 18"'s or the 19"'s from top of tire to bottom of fenders are virtually the same just below 2 inches.
Thanks again for any advice.

Nice ride, although I think the stock look is much in keeping with the 996 lines. Standard 18" alloys with 295 at the back looks right, as does the standard 10mm lower sports suspension. I guess it's a personal preference but I'm all in keeping the 911 look as per the period it was on sale.

Hi there! Could you please provide more details as to which LED tailights you're using? I've got a 2000 C4 and love your idea.
Thanks
Hi Jimmy,
they are your normal ebay LED tail lights that are the whole housing with internal LED wiring that you plug into the wiring loom. I think you use two of the old bulbs in the housing and all others hook up the LED's through a wired in base that you push into the empty plug outlets. I'm sure you've seen them around here or on ebay, (sorry no pic's of mine as I'm at work). Mine are clear signals until you hit the turn signal and the LED's light up a very bright yellow. The brake section is red - also very bright. I blew the marker light 7.5amp fuses joining the small corner marker (fog) lights because the supplier did not have instruction NOT to hook these up. I found this out later from other posts on Rennlist and 6gear. So the tail lights work well aside from the hyper flash issue which is why I bought two power resistors to fix that issue. Later I have another person asking me why didn't I just buy some *electronic* relay for this circuit. Good question: I was told by others that the relay would not fix this issue alone and when I did check part numbers there is no such thing as an upgraded relay unless I pop in 997 relays that could or could not work.
I did find a supplier who makes LED replacement bulbs that you can replace the two incandesent lamps still left over and they have a built in resistor in the base of the lamp to fix the low .05amp issue that in theory would be plug in play in any normal old style tail light housings. I'm going to try those next in a few weeks and let people know how they work. If they work you could replace all your lamps with them without changing the whole housing. I hated the yellow/red housing anyway which is why I went for the whole replacement deal. (and got a good deal on them to boot)
But if there is a quick plug in play of a relay that fixes the hyper flash issue when you go from the old units to new LED units then I'm all over that even if the relay install is a 20 minute job for me - the plug and play relay may work best for most people - if it in fact works.
Cheers.

Im currently in the market for a wing and would really like to put something like a porsche turbo wing on the car. Is there any kits out there like the stock porsche turbo wings? Whats a good recommendation in wings and some links or pictures to help me make up my mind.
Thanks,
J5
Here is a GT2 style wing on my 02 C4S by Misha nice fit and finish from them. Just for thought.

Here are some 997 wheels I put on my C4S 2002. Click image to make it bigger and you can see them better.
They are 997 Turbo Wheels 19's. I went from 18's with the Turbo Look twist. I had to change the tire size to make everything stay the same went to 235/35/19 and 315/25/19
Got them from Wheel Dynamics www.wheeldynamics.net They were on special and paid $1200 for the set. I have had them over a year and love em. Just checked their site and they have them still for $1199 and a large selection of other wheels at great prices.

2002 C4S Carrera White
I would like to replace my stock S on the rear of my C4S with a Red one. What color of red would anyone suggest. Looking on bumperplugs and there are alot of reds by name but cannot find any colors to see visually. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Soutahc4s

I really think the white C4S is a spectacular looking car, however those wheels look like they "raised' your car significantly?? WHen I look at the Lambo
and your car there seems to be a significant difference?? Are those wheels 20's??
Demosan
The wheels look like the 19" 997 Turbo wheels to me.
Here is a photo of what the car looked like with the stock wheels.
The stock wheels were 996 18 turbo II with 225/40-18 front and 295/30-18 rear
The new wheels are 997 19 turbo with 235/35-19 front and 315/25-19 rear
I matched up the wheels of the 996 and the 997 with tires mounted and the circumferences were pretty much the same, so close the naked eye could not tell a difference. Think it plays tricks on my eyes for I am used to seeing more rubber than rim and I think it makes my car look slightly higher. When my friend got his Lambo it was much lower than my C4S even with my 18's on.
If anyone does have a suggestion on how I can lower the car and what I should do to accomplish that please give me some advise.
Thanks

2002 C4S Manual
I tried to do a search and could not find anything on the installation of a Short Shifter. I am looking to put in a B&M short shifter and checked the DYI section under mods and did not see anything on a short shifter. Was getting ready to order one it was quoted at $299, but it did not come with instructions they said it was pretty easy to install, but I am not mr. mechanical either.
Any help would be appreciated?
Thanks

What does it take to lower the ride height of a 2002 C4S manual transmission?
Did a search and came up with nothing using the common names for ride height.
Thanks

I have a 2002 C4S Carrera White manual with 60,000 miles.
My question is after a 300 plus mile run there is a dusty black film on the back of the car. This must be a little blow by. If so how much blow by is normal? What is strange it is not using oil or at least not enough to show up on the dipstick or the electronic monitoring?
Thanks for you help
southc4s
hopefully this would be caused by road conditions and not an oil leak. how about under the car? anything going on under there? (that's a good drive from SLC south to St. George and beyond....pretty country.)
Under the car is clean as a whistle no leaks what so ever.
Seems to have a consensus that it is just from the road. There are quite a few pretty and fun drives in Southern Utah.
Thanks

Does the leather housing still cover the B&M shifter just like the stock?
Is there a particular B & M model#?
Thanks for a great site Loren.
Yes, the B&M is the oem manufacturer, so the only difference is the shortness of the throw. I also have one for 5 years now... You can search for DIY install as well.

I have a 2002 C4s installing the PS10's. Question how do I remove the cover behind the back seats to get to the upper mounts. It does not seem to move very easy. The instructions say no clips but I do not want to break anything. It has the BOSE system in or at least air holes on the section I need to remove. In short how do you remove it?
Thanks for the help and can't wait to get them on.
