Sounds like a bad earth/earthing strap to me but I should hope your mechanic would have checked this?

They told me they check already all ground points. After i was in the shop to have this checked i could drive 2 weeks and 1500 km without problem. Now this problemnis coming back

I will replace the battery for a new one tomorrow and see what happens.

After having all the time PSM problems now finaly the car give up completely looks like.

Wanted to drive today. Not even doors are opening.

Manual open by key. First attemp to start. Nothing.

Playing a little bit with the key and car runs. But a little bit rough.

How is this possible? Yesterday no problems and today the car almost sleeps. No signs of life. Battery just 8 weeks old.

When i turn key the meter is showing arround 12 v.

When car runs i have 14.

I was thinking what the heck i did what could cause this breakdown of electric power. Nothing special.

Just i remember that i swichted off the center intereur light yesterday evening.

I know maybe you are tired about my random problems and my comments here but i am tired too.

Even my porsche mechanic is scratching his head because they dont know what to look for.

One question please which is touching almost the same point. I got my drive belt replaced some weeks ago. Before not any noise. Now its making the same scary noise like describe above. Porsche is telling me, thats the new belt. That cant be right in m.o.

Noise from the belt you just hear if you drive the car up from 2500 rpm.

If you park and rev up to 2500 or more there is nothing to hear. Thank you

I took the car from porsche service. Piwis show failure in throttle body again but this part is already new.

I understand piwis is not the right tool to get rid of this frustrating problem.

Problem. Piwia is just showing errors in parts which are new or almost new.

They checked almost every ground point at the car because somebody told me this could be a problem.

They checked alternator. Brake light switch is new.

I could drive more than 1000 km without any problem last weeks.

Today again. PSM workshop and engine running a little bit rough.

Left it on parking lot for all day. At evening car starts and runs without.

Problem and no PSM warning on the display.

I called porsche. They are frustrated as much as i am.

I am affraid to drive . Impossible situation.

I am ready to give the car away.

Wow. You keep your books. I stopped this long time ago. This is a 2,6 tonn vehikel and i guess you cant bring it down more.

I would say both. I was driving about 700 km from one stop to next. But i need to calculate exactly

Just can repeat what i wrote before. After i got new fuel pumps the results improved in many ways. Engine feels more strong and the liters per km dropped a lot . I just made a trip to belgium, some hundred of kilometers highway driving. Average speed between 120 and 160 km/h. Fuel consumption is until now 13,7 liters per 100 km

Lots of communication faults - how old is your battery?

Have your battery both load tested and specific gravity tested.

Also check the chassis ground points to make sure they are not corroded.

The car is at porsche service point. They checked battery and alternator. Everything ok. One guy told me it could be some electrical problem which is coming from moisture. But very difficult to find the location. Any idea?

I just wondered as the three things they fixed only the MAF could have any affect on PSM.

The fact that it goes into limp mode would make want to run a transmission diagnostic. Plus if your complaint is the PSM they should also be running that diagnostic.

I would like to learn what is behind this failure. I thought if a part is damaged its not working. But this car is sometimes driving and sometimes not. Sometimes thousand km without PSM complaint and sometimes nonstop. What is this?

What can i do. They are trustful people. I believe. I dont think they change parts which are not neccessary to change. What is surprising me really is the fact that piwis show codes at MAF . They change the part but car continue to show same behaviour. I thought piwis is piwis. Checking the system means checking the complete system. From your last message i understand, checking transmission and PSM is a different process?!

Hi Loren. To be honest i dont know. Its a porsche service center and i believe they should know what to do and what to look for. I bring the car. Explaining what happens and the rest is their job

I try just now your advise. I put the key to ignition and switch off PSM. Car starts without problem. I drove about one kilometer and .... PSM WARNING ON THE DISPLAY. Car going to LIMP mode

If the failure accours already on the display PSM is not possible to shut down.

I need your help again please. The PSM Problems following me like a shadow. Again and again. Something must be wrong here. Always when PSM failure is on the display i take it to service. Sometimes its still possible to drive, sometimes the truck isnt even starting. Just shaking arround.

Porsche is checking the system by piwis to find out what is the reason.

1. time piwi show throttle body, the changed for new.

2. time piwi show lambda sensor, the changed for new.

3. time piwi show MAF sensors, the changed for new ones. Just 2 weeks ago.

Between i changed already 3 times the battery.

Now i have the same problem again. Today i had to drive somewhere. When i wanted to drive back and started the car...... same. Very bulky start. Not possible to drive.

I waited some minutes and tried again. Car was running.I could make it home but on the way back again PSM warning light.

Jesus what is this. If i take the car to porsche on monday piwi will show maybe some other stupid code which is again not the reason . I can not change part after part and problems still remain.

Maybe someone has an idea what the heck is going on here.

Thanks. You are right. I changed already throttle body and MAFs and batteries only because of this PSM story.

Thank you for your response. I ask them to check the voltage of both batteries . I dont know if they did. When i take back my car yesterday late nobody from the mechanics was there.

The new psm failure happend today. Its sunday. Tomorrow i will bring back the car to porsche. They have to read PIWIS and we will see which codes this time are showing up. batterie is only 3 month old. 2 batterie in 2 years. Afraid even to drive one meter.

I took back the car from porsche shop. As you remember i had a heavy PSM failure and car even was not starting well. They changed the 2 MAF because PIWIS show that would be the reason. The made a long testdrive. Everything ok BUT BUT TODAY AGAIN . I drove to wash the car and ob the way back home again on the display. Psm failure. Workshop. What my god this can be. If someone has an idea i will be happy

Maybe i could ask you one more question. Its not related to the MAF's but needed to discuss with the shop too.

They changed the drive belt some days before. No its making squezzing noises sometimes . Sounds not nice. The shop try to tell thats usual with a new belt. Cant believe it.
