  1. Don't bother replying. I beat the snot out of the white clip until it RELENTED. Examined the pinched wires and yes several of them were shorted together. I separated them and test hooked up the rear speakers - works like a champ. I bet the previous owners never had the rear speakers work. Oh well, time to find the heat shrink, pin release tool and put this mess back together while I remember how. Thanks and bye - Mark
  2. Thanks, I took off the engine firewall carpet and saw that the speaker cabling was being pinched by either the soft-top frame or the roll-over hoop frame. I freed up the cable but now I would like to take out the connector and check to see if that is where have a short. Any idea on how to remove the connector? It looks like it was designed to be installed once and never removed. I'd hate to break it. Mark
  3. Here is the problem: I have no sound from my rear speakers. Amp and radio are known good. I started tracing the wiring using sheet 14 from the 2000 Boxster factory manual. Although it looks like each wire from the M680 amp to the DP Rear Speaker connector is independent, I measured differently. With all connectors disconnected I get continuity between pins 2 and 4 of the DP Rear Speaker connector. I also get continuity from those pins to chassis ground. None of the other speaker pairs at the M680 amp connector have continuity to chassis ground. I can only guess that I have a short from pins 2 & 4 to ground. Before I give up does anyone know the precise cable routing for the rear speaker wires and are there other connectors involved? None are shown on the wiring diagram and it looks like the Porsche manual does not have a wiring harness layout diagram. Thanks. Mark
  4. Thanks for all the information. The question I have is how do you remove the transmission drive gear from the end of the cable. Mine's in there real tight and I'd like to remove it without damaging the gear. Mark
