  1. 2012 GTS PDK with Sport and Sport+ In Normal, the transmission shifts up at very low engine speeds, sometimes below 2000 rpm particularly if i am easy on the gas. This can lead to driving around the neighborhood in 4th or even 5th gear at 40 mph. This seems the mode to use for maximum fuel economy. In Sport mode, using the same approach to the gas pedal, the engine shifts up at 2500 tp 3000 rpm. Nearly the same speeds at which I would shift a manual transmission. This mode mimics a manual transmission. Also in Sport mode, the throttle is much mover aggressive. For the same movement of the gas pedal in Normal, you get more throttle. On the highway at 75 mph, the transmission will run in 6th gear until the cruise control is activated. Then it shifts to 7th, dropping the revs for better highway fuel economy. In Sport+, the transmission does not upshift until very near the redline. It holds high revs and downshifts when revs fall below about 4000. The throttle response may be a bit more aggressive than Sport, but I'm not sure. The transmission will not shift into 7th at any time, cruise control or not. This is the mode I use on the track. In each mode, things can be a bit more or less aggressive depending upon the rate you push the accelerator. It adapts to your pedal movement and increases or decreases the shift strategies. I hope this answers your question. It's all explained in confusing detail in the owners manual area covering the Sports Chrono package.
  2. This might be a start: http://www.imagineauto.com/tips3.htm Thanks, but that doesn't help. It shows the seat backs folded forward, and the cover for the rear deck removed. I would like to remove the seat backs entirely. When my harness bar is installed, the seat backs must be upright to allow mounting the bar to the rear seatbelt anchor points. If I could remove the seat backs, I'd have more useable cargo space wit the bar in place. Fred
  3. Can anyone provide instructions on how to disassemble and remove the rear seat backs? I'd like to remove mine when I install my harness guide bar. Thanks,
  4. Sorry for the cross post, but I haven't gotten a resopnse on the TT board. I am about to install the PSS9 suspension on my 03 TT. I have the factory workshop manual, but it does not contain the ride height specs for the X73 suspension. Apparently, this suspension was released after the publication of my manual. As I would like to set the height to this spec, does anyone have it? Thanks, Fred R.

  6. I recently purchased the X73 suspension form Carnewal. I did not installed the included motor mounts. After the first 100 miles of driving, I've decided this suspension is just too stiff for my tired old bones. In my younger days, it would have been great, but I 've grown older and softer. I would characterize the ride as somewhere between stock and GT2. The car is tight and handles much better than the stock suspension. I reinstalled my stock suspension, and will be able to make someone a great deal on the X73 kit. The suspension has approximately 250 miles maximum. $1500 for the 4 struts $300 for the motor mounts Ph: 309-675-4882 or e-mail ringness_fred@cat.com Cheers, Fred R.
  7. My '03 does exactly the same thing. I can only conclude that it is an electrical glitch as the oil pressure cannot drop as fast as the gauge indicates. If I drive at 2000 rpm, and blip the throttle suddenly, the needle will drop 1 bar and pick right up. This all happens in 2 seconds or less. Regards,
  8. Gert, Thanks! FedEx indicates that they delivered my new suspension this morning. Thanks for the great service. Fred R.
  9. Does anyone have the alignment specs for a 996TT with X-73 suspension? It is not listed in my copy of the factory shop manual. Thanks, Fred R.
