  1. Just a word of warning about testing the microswitch for the latch mechanism in the roof rail. I had a MY99 Boxster in my garage today for the soft top not functioning. After checking all the microswitches at the relay for continuity with a multimeter everything checked out. The latch switch had a resistance of 0.3 ohms across it. This was a high enough resistance for the relay not to pick it up. Licking my finger and putting it across the contacts at the switch was enough for the roof to start operating! So in conclusion, don't always trust your multimeter when checking the switches. The relay is very sensitive and needs a very low resistance in the microswitches.
  2. Does anyone know where the rear relay carrier is located on a 996 Carrera 4 2001? Cheers
  3. I replaced that hose recently on a 996 C2. I took the engine out to do it as other work had to be done as well. I've heard they can be done in place but that they are very very awkward to do. The Porsche tech I talked to said he drops the engines to do them.
  4. I had the same problem with a customer's '99 996 C2 last week. Turned out to be a faulty door lock (which Porsche diagnosed). Took 1/2 hour to change door lock.
  5. I have a '03 C4S which I Superchipped about 6 months ago. Like every normally aspirated car i've owned and have 'chipped' in the past, the increases wouldn't be classed as breathtaking but for the cost and assuming you are using super unleaded or an octane booster I think it worth it. Just as a comparison price wise, the cost is 450 euro or 550 USD. Being the Superchips agent for Southern Ireland it didn't cost me anything so who am I to complain!
  6. Sounds like intermittantly faulty coil packs to me. Check the coils on those two cylinders for any hairline cracks.
