  1. I have a C4S with PDK and I love it! It is my daily driver and has about 4500 miles on it after about 8 weeks. I've noticed on several occasions recently when driving in regular mode and stopped or at a slow roll the car won't immediately go when I press the accelerator. It seems to hesitate a second or two before the transmission engages. If I am headed up a slope the car will actually roll backward before the transmission engages. I'm starting to become a bit hesitant to pull out into traffic or to turn left across traffic coming toward me. I've looked for a dipstick to check the transmission fluid level but apparently this is not something that Porsche wants the end user to do.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with their PDK transmission?

Don't know what a 4S would do to the equation, but my PDK C2 is very responsive. If it did what you describe, I'd be in the shop with it. On a decent slope the brakes grab enough to freak me out - no rolling back for sure, but I need to get used to that.

Caveat though - I am only in regular mode as long as I have forgotten to push Sport or S+ (not long) and I don't do Auto very often either. I found a really cool doc "2009_Technik_Introduction_All_997_Carrera_models.pdf" on some forum - could be here or PCA.org, not sure. Anyway, it explains much more about PDK (and more) than ever made it to the Owner's Maunals. Turns out the Sport and Plus modes also effect Manual shifting - cool stuff and makes S+ actually usable in normal driving. Auto and S+ is too over the top for around town for me.

I'll attach it - if that's a no-no, sorry, someone delete it. Actually, better, here's the link: (link deleted) Worth a read for sure.

Thant document is available here to our Contributing Members - and the linked document was likely taken from here.

What section is it in. I plan to donate if I can find it.

  2. Are you talking about the rain rail? Mine is doing that too. Did you ever get a solution?

    All,

I have had my 2006 Boxster S to the dealer 3 times now for a problem with the top. I would love to know if anyone else has had this problem and if so what was the resolution.

The problem is that there is a plastic bar in the back of the top that attached to two clips (under the top cover)

When I operate the top, these clips break and this bar drops down and rests on the motor cover. I am told this bar is there to aid in water drainage and direct water to the outer drain areas. When the top is closed this bar also gives tension on a flap that pulls on the bottom of the read window to give it tension.

I am now going in to the dealer in friday as they claim they now have to replace the entire headliner.

I have also called PCNA and filed an investigation.

Any evidence of another having this problem and what was done to resolve it would be great.

    THanks

    Darius

  3. Yes, I bought the optional Thicker Sport Wheel but it came with tip switches. I need info on how to remove those and reinstall mine. I removed on screw but something else is holding it in :-(

    Hi,

I looked through the parts cataloge and there is nothing

for steering wheel parts. I would guess that once the air

bag is removed, then you undo the steering wheel nut

and the whole wheel cones off as one unit. Is there

a wheel that you like that you want to replace with your

    existing one?

    Paul

  4. If you go after market be willing to accept some vibration or resonance. They sound better and do make more power but I could not live with the drawbacks. Probably because I’m picky. I tried AWE and then switched to the new Porsche Sport Exhaust due to a slight vibration around 2000rpm when downshifting or stopping. Other exhausts to consider are Milltek, Tubi and Fabspeed.

For exhaust tips keep an eye on ebay. I picked up the optional Boxster chrome exhaust for a great price. Also check out Booth Designs for chroming options on your stock tip.

  5. Does anyone know the number of Flutes and Millimeter size for the 987 oil filter cartridge case? I searched the forums but could not find a definitive answer.

Any suggestions where to find a substantial wrench like the factory one that will fit a 3/8” torque wrench? I don’t like the cheap plastic or thin metal housings  I also don’t want to mess with the 27mm socket on the factory wrench 

    :drive:

  6. The 987 visors didn’t look like they would come off very easy. At least I was afraid I might break something during the removal process. Maybe someone could provide removal instructions to help others. I didn’t have any bad effects on the vinyl from the denatured alcohol. I guess the smart way to remove the decals is to start with regular alcohol first. Then if that doesn’t work the denatured stuff will for sure.

I also treated with 303 Aerospace upon completion.
