  1. Thanks for the replys. Have been to the OPC with the details of the TSB and they then gave me a price to carry out the work total of £533. 75p ( about $988 )
  2. A nice little story this... A few weeks ago my air bag warning light came on, so off I went to my local OPC who plugged the old girl into their computer and could find no problem with the car. I was told that this "sometimes happens" and not to worry about it. Next day the light came back on. So after a phone call to the OPC I booked the car in on the following Saturday for further investigations, their words not mine! After sitting in the showroom for two hours I was told that they still can't find anything wrong and the only thing left to do was to start replacing parts in a blind hope that this will fix the problem! They reset the computer again, and a week later it's back on. So I went to my local independant who's computer came up with " Ignition circuit coil ". They reset the light and a week later it came on again. Back to the OPC who still say that their is no fault code in the computer, so can't fix the problem. Anybody else had this lovely problem? Or should I use this as an excuse to buy a three spoke steering wheel? :D 1997 2.5 Boxster UK spec, RHD, manual, Drivers air bag and passanger deactivation bar fitted...
  3. Hello all! A spot of advice please. I am thinking about swapping my 986 front PU/bumper to a GT3 MK1 PU. What parts are involved? The PU/bumper will come with a lip spoiler and that's it. I take it I will need grills but is there any thing else I will need? Cheers, Paul 1997 2.5 Boxster, RHD
  4. Hello all, Right a few months ago now my variocam selonoid went bang and the car went to my local opc for the repair. After a week I got a phone call saying that the oil pump had also gone bang too cost £107. A few week later I got a phone call saying that some valves where bent and some tappets where also duff, more money on the car. A week after that I got a call saying that a oxygen sensor had also gone cost £103. Now the opc had my car for seven weeks to do the work and the cost was £1400, because they had the car for so long they only charged me for the original repair, which was the variocam and materials on all the other stuff. At the time I was happy to get the car back and pay the bill. Now the intresting bit... Getting my yearly service done at a local independant I told him the story, and he told me the reason it took the opc so long to fix my car. He said that the opc hadn't reset a switch/computer after the repair on the variocam, they had done the work and simply turned the key on the dash which made everything else go bang ( valves etc...) Now this make sense, why didn't the opc find all these faults when they had the car in the first week? Did the variocam fault cause the oil pump to fail or was it their stupidity? I now feel like I have been well and truly done over by the opc and payed for materials that I did not need when the car went in for the variocam repair but have payed for their mistakes! Now , before I go to the opc on Saturday ( to get an oil leak fixed on the variocam which they have caused!) I need to know from you wise people, If the variocam fails does it mean that the oil pump is faulty in the first place? How long should a repair like this normally take and the cost? depending on your advice, I will be haveing a few words with said opc... My ride : box 2.5, '97, manual, RHD
