Loren is right on.
I had the same thing occur. Noticed it during an oil change, and sent an oil sample off to Blackstone Labs for analysis. The oil checked out perfect - no water or coolant in the sample.
Those short trips on cold days will cause the residue to occur.

GREAT DIY - Replace my lock and switch assembly over the weekend. I went the removal of the instrument cluster route, and concur the time to remove is worth it. In addition, one gets so much more room to work. A big thanks to all who added to this DIY, I for one certainly benfited from your learnings!

Hi Loren,
Had to replace the ignition lock and switch assemble (great DIY by the guys here - I went the instrument cluster removal route), therefore, I disconnected the battery resulting in the need to enter the radio code. I soon found out that I did not have the radio code with my manual set. So, if you would so kind, I would greatly appreciated it.

2001 C2 with 65,000 miles as daily driver. RMS was leaking at 55,000 miles, which was replaced along with clutch and IMS with L&N. Also, I have replaced ignition lock at 60,000 due to failure. Recently (62,000 miles), installed Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires which I have been very impressed.
