  1. In the middle of pulling my axles to replace CV Boots and am stuck. I have broken the toe link and axle strut joints with no problem but can't get the axle strut joint out of the bottom of the hub carrier. It is loose but doesn't have the range of motion to push it out. I tried jacking up the hub and the axle strut just rides up with it. Any suggestions?
  2. Hi, 97 boxster with 120 K miles. New O2 sensors and old catalytic converters. Reading after cat on one side is .7 volts but reading after cat on other side is .07 volts. Which reading is off spec? Is one of my cats going? Readings before cats fluctuate between .2 and .7 volts as they should. Car runs fine. Have tried changing 02 sensors with no change. Thanks, Dave
  3. Hi, simple question, how good is the stock 964 air conditioning? had a 1979 911 SC and had to selll it when I moved to Houston, Tx as the AC could not keep up with summer heat. Tried a '87 carrera and had similar problems. Now have a Boxster which is fine but it is not a 911. How does the 964 AC stack up with the older and newer cars? Thanks! Dave
  4. Update on silicone repair......well over a year since I filled my torn bushings with silicone and the horn still works normally. Regards, Dave
  5. Well, it turns out the studs press out easily....they have knurling like wheel studs and are available from the dealer. I usede a little heat but it may not be needed. Part Number: 999 080 031 09 Dave
  6. Hi, i sheared off one of the studs that holds the diagonal brace to the aluminum suspension framework while removing the brace to change my tranny fluid. The stud was corroded and twisted off with little effort while removing the nut. It looks like these studs are pressed in to the aluminum and I plan to try pressing it out with a little heat. Does anyone have any experience with these studs? (Round head stud pressed through from the back of the aluminum, it protrudes through and locates the sheet metal brace and the diagonal brace.) Thanks, Dave
  7. Easier fix is to fill the rubber bushing completely with Black hi Temp silicone gasket in a tube available at all auto parts stores. It dries hard and returns the horn to normal operation.
