  1. Hello, I just got my 2000 Porsche 911 cabriolet C2 today and I can't figure out how to use the stock premium audio CD changer. I have no manuals and I haven't been able to get any CD to play by pressing buttons. First of all, I assume that the CD's go in with label on the top? I tried putting the first one in upside down to see if that would make any difference but it didn't.

The only button that gives me anything relating to CD is labeled "S" and when I press it once, it says "No CD".

I'm not sure if the thing doesn't work or if I just don't know how to use it.

Here is what the dash looks like with the stereo and 4 CD slots in it.

The four CD slots under your radio are for storage only.

The upper right button on your radio will open the faceplate of your radio. There you will find the slot for CD's to be played one at a time. Load them with the label up.

You can download a manual for your radio from the Becker website.

  2. Does anyone know if I'll cause [mechanical] problems by replacing the rear 265/40-18 tires with 275/40-18 ( keeping OEM 9" wheel size width)? The 275/40's have a wheel width requirement of 9-11", so I'm OK with that on my stock wheels. I know I'll have to tweak the TPMS. Thanks.

    Regards,

    paul...

Since the diameter of the tires are different, the difference between the two tires traveling 100 miles according to the speedometer and actual would be 101.19545726240287 miles. If this difference is outside of that allowed by the various control units in the car, the upgraded tires would not work because you would get warning lights or failure codes.

  3. I have a 2000 Bosxter with 4 Pirelli P-Zeros. The fronts are 2 years old and the rears are 1 year (2yrs front and 1yr rear seems like it's going to be the standard life of my tires). My question is this: All 4 tires have a wear pattern that I haven't seen before. One of the tread channels in the middle on each tire, about 1"-2" of width, is worn almost flat on all 4 of the tires. The other 80% of the total tread on each tire is fine. I inflate them to 36 PSI which is a little higher than recommended, but shouldn't be enough to prematurely wear the tires. Is this a normal wear pattern for aBoxster?

Overinflating tires will cause the center section to wear quicker than usual. Tire inflation should be as recommended for that tire. Underinflation will cause the outsides of the tires to wear prematurely.

  4. I have a CDR210 head unit in my 98 Boxster. Does anyone know the model number for the compatible multi-changer. I was looking at a CDC-3 and a CDC-1. I think the CDC-3 will work, but not sure about the CDC-1.

    thanks

I also have a '98 Boxster which had the CDR-210 (I have replaced that with the CDR-220). I purchased a Becker CD Changer from Fred Opert Racing (fredopertracing@hotmail.com) a couple of years ago. It included the wiring harness to the head unit as well as mounting hardware. Installation was fairly easy.

    Hope this helps. John

  5. Agggh. Mine does beep on locking. Have changed the stereo and fitted a GPS aerial under the front cover by the sensor on the centre of the dash - What troubleshooting route should I follow

    S

Tape up the wire that connects to the original radio mounting cage. If a connection is made to ground the alarm will sound (beep when locking).

  6. :help:Anyone have a Porsche Boxster 986 screensaver?

    I know it's possible to download the 987 screensaver from Porsche.co.uk, but I wanted a 986 saver!

    Can anyone help me out?

Ofcourse if you have a other nice overall porsche screensaver feel free to share that one aswell!

    -V

Windows XP enables you to use photos from your /my documents/my pictures folder as screensaver images. You could take several pictures of your 986 and download them to your computer, then activate the screensaver to display them. Or you could even save images that you see on the internet to the same folder and they would be available to be part of your screensaver images. I have been able to save many pictures that I currently use as part of my screensaver library.

Contact me if you need more info.

  7. I am down to the last piece in my nav/a/v setup, and just need to plug into the headlight terminal. Since I have the housing out, for getting to the ACC wire, I'd love to just tap in there. I guess that it's so the display knows when to change from day to night. I'm so anxious, any help would be awesome. I have worked 4 days straight (calling in sick to work), with about 4 hours of sleep total. I'm having so much fun, who needs sleep?

    :)

    Thanks in advance!

I would love to help you out. assuming you are in So-cal.. right?

PM me with where you at.

Connector pin 6 on socket A for the original radio should provide the illumination connection that you're looking for.

  8. I've got a case of m1 0w-40 left because that's what my audi gets, i was wondering if i should use something more viscous for the boxster as it's engine gets a bit warmer judging by the water temp guage

anybody have any opinions? it's supposed to be a hot summer and it's a black car, should I just use the 0w-40 I've got or go higher? I figure I'll change it again before it gets cold if that matters.

    thanks,

    tom

Porsche recommends M1 0w-40. Color of car doesn't matter.
