  1. Going back to the original post.....if the battery had been disconnected the engine would lose the throttle placement settings and the octane rating of the fuel. So once you restarted the car before it had learnt these the engine would misfire. The correct way after reconnecting the battery is to turn the iginition on without starting the car for about a minute. After this the car should be run at idle until the revs settle.
  2. Try here first: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?a...iewfile&fid=947
  3. Are the hood/trunk lids fitted to the 987 compatible with the 986? I know on the 987 they replaced the steel versions with aluminium but are they the same size and have similar mounting? If so what are the part numbers as I am thinking of swapping these to save weight. (one of many reductions).
  4. Thanks for the lead but I was hoping for something closer than a 3 and a half hour drive away.
  5. Ok.....sitting down....??? The PCM System kit is $4,985, with installation it is $ 5,855.
  6. I agree with andy the Harvey kit is the best value for money
  7. Having just added the PNP kit to my 04 S, I can confirm that the existing M490 (MOST) Amp will drive the rear speakers. Hope that helps.
  8. I'm have problems finding an OPC on the East coast willing to do the OBC and Cruise Control enabling using either the PST2 or PIWIS. Is there anyone out there who knows of a friendly OPC or other garage who has done this for them in either CT or NY preferably near Greenwich or Newhaven????
  9. ...same follow-up from NY Bob, its hard to find an OPC just across the border in CT, tried a couple and also one in NY state (pepeporsche). So the hold up on starting the project for me is getting a local dealer to do the OBC and Cruise enable first. Anyone from NY or CT state know of a dealer who will do this??
  10. 1. What are the definitive list of parts required to add Cruise and the OBC functionality to a 2004 Boxster S. 2. How difficult is it to remove the steering wheel to add the switch?
  11. This is the best place to go: The SCCA High Performance Driving School at Thunderhill in Willows. A pretty easy drive for you from Roseville. The price is about as good as it gets, and you get a full day of lapping sessions with an instructor riding with you the whole time. Looks like there is a class on June 6 with space open. Having said that, you should check to see if they'll accept the Boxster. They did before, but I see they have new language regarding restrictions on convertibles. My recommendation is the Porsche Driving School in Leipzig, two days with the best Porsche test drivers on an FIA Track. Fantastic and I am going back fore sure!!!
  12. Very strange indeed, I have one there too....So what is it?
  13. Email this guy, he should be able to help you: harveypnp@comcast.net
  14. I need to remove a pin from the M490 amp and replace another: I need the part number for the pins and the tools to remove and crimp another. Thanks
  15. Who don't you use a set of axle stands??
  16. I am considering adding the 5mm wheel spacers to my car and I am wondering if they make a real difference to the looks and handling?
  17. I have recently brought the speaker upgrade kit (from PNP) and have done the following: Mounted the speakers routed the cable to the back of the radio Now I have the cable to route from here, through the firewall etc. But how the hell does this route with removing more than just the radio? Help on routing and photos would be a great help
  18. OK I have mounted the speakers and routed the main cable to the back of the radio but how the hell do you route the cable through the firewall without removing more than just the radio???
  19. OK when you disconnect the battery the engine loses the throttle placement settings and the octane rating of the fuel. So once you restarted the car before it had learnt these the engine would misfire. The correct way after reconnecting the battery is to turn the iginition on without starting the car for about a minute. After this the car should be run at idle until the revs settle. The fault codes are also lost when you disconnect the battery. However, there is problaly an underlying problem, hence the codes coming on. As for the other problems I'm sure someone else will chip in soon.
  20. Just received my kit from PNP today, fantastic looking speakers and service. Will let you know about the installation and sound soon.
  21. Thats great but is there one for what it can and can't do ? I assume most things have a help file but is there a function by function guide?
  22. Is there a user guide for the PST2 or its replacement that we can access on here ?
  23. Is this the same for the 986 if so where do you get to this screen from? thanks again
