  1. I drove both a C2 and a C4. In my opinon C4 feels more solid then a C2. I also found C2 more louder then a C4, comparing 2000 C4 to a 2000 C2. There was this hollow sound from the front of the C2. My C4 is quite as a ***** cat. Also C4 offers better traction then a C2 under not so ideal conditions and C4 has a standard PSM which in my opinion can save you from brink of disasters if the driver is not a experienced one. I have too many friends who have spun out there C2 with no PSM on highway 17 cruzing down from Santa Cruz to San Jose. Also C4 will probably have a better resale value then a C2 or atleast more sellable compared to a C2 in a bad Porsche Market. Last not the least 'Carrera 4' logo looks cool in the back:-)
  2. Ya i think, when I took it in last time, I wanted to make sure that all fluids are topped off and I think at that time they must have over-topped it. I certainly did not add any. Car got a new engine when I got it. Unfixable RMS issue. So it only has 2000 miles on the new motor (total of 22500 miles). I ran the car as specified during the break-in period. Did not exceed > 4200 RPM. Car went thru the usual initial oil consuming phase. And my MPG has also been steadly getting better. Started from 11, now it is at around 18. Over all real nice ride. Peppy and fun. Thanks for help Loren.
  3. Update: Just came back from the dealer. They pressure tested, both the cap and tank. No leaks, no pressure lost. However the tank was very full, Above the max level and that may have caused the coolant overflow from the overflow valve. So all is good for now. Thanks for help.
  4. Guys, I have a 00 996 C4. When does the fan in the rear wing comes on? I believe my car is running hotter then normal. Temp needle hovers at about 1'o'clock when drving thru stop and go traffic, no AC and outside temp around 75oF. Also when I stopped to fill gas after driving yesterday, I noticed some coolant around the filler cap area. Seems like it came out from the overflow valve. So when I came home, I parked my car and let the engine run to see if the fan comes on or not. Let the engine idle for about 10 min, temp needle was around 1'o'clock, but the fan never came on.....! Also no warning lights in the cluster. Is something wrong with my car? Should I take it to the dealer? I have full warranty. Thanks for help.
  5. 7K+ Pirce was I believe with the core exchange. I saw the words 'core exchange' on the paper work.
  6. '$21,509.08 uninstalled' This sounds like the MSRP with no discount. My 00 cab, before I got it, got a new 3.4L engine from Porsche. I had them pull all the records on the car before i bought it, and I saw the price that Porsche would have billed the dealership, but they waived the charges since it was the RMS issue and Porsche was aware of it. So the price of a 3.4L Enginer that I recall was around $7000 and change. Ofcourse that was the cost to the dealership. I can't imagine a 3.6 so much more, May be 3-4K more then the 3.4L -NL. They gotta be making 100% margins on these babies.
  7. Hi Guys, I have a 2000 C4. 6 speed with a new engine and 20K miles opprox. What is the normal engine temp range that the guage should show? When I drive, it stays dead center 90 degrees. However in stop-n-go california traffic or upon idling it starts to rise and goes close to the 3rd mark on the guage, right on the '0' or '180'. If I let it idle it does start to come down a bit. This happen regardless of the outside temperature, normally between 40-45 degree's F. these days. I am assuming this is normal. But some please confirm. It has never passed the 3 rd mark or got even to that point. Thanks for help. Noor.
  8. Well My 2000 996 cab H/T was squeky and rattling. My Porsche dealer installed a set of new 'Latches' that hold the H/T in the rear and lubricated the front. It is amazingly quite now. There could be a TSB on this, I am not sure, but take it to your Porsche dealer and see if they will do it for you. Noor.
  9. Hi, I have a 2000 C4 996 Cab. It has a aftermarket Apline deck. Deck has a seperate nonpowered Sub out. My car has has the base stock 4 speaker systems. Which is OK, but not much low end. I like to add a Subwoofer. I am looking at an 8" Sub with Amp. Amp can probably go in the front, but what about the Sub, where do I install that. I need the rear seats as well. So can't sacrifice those. Thanks Noor.
